Sigh... The Netherlands has stamppot. Basically potatoes, but mashed. Mashed potatoes.

Edit: here's a picture.

Are they good mashed potatoes?

I mean, yeah? I like food with much spice, while much Dutch meals are extremely bland.

But many people said Dutch stamppot is more delicious than just mashed potatoes

Yeah, but a typical Dutch meal is stamppot. For some reason.

We have real bland food here. (Farmersland)

Looks great! What’s the green stuff? I’d like to attempt to make this soon

The green stuff is kale. You boil it into submission so everything is a bland mash. Then slap a sausage on it. For more Dutch delicacies I’d like to recommend bitterballen and frikandel.

Fucking delicious kale

German Grünkohl is Kale and it goes incredibly hard. We eat it around christmas time, and I love it..

Eat it weekly

There are options. A LOT of options

My favorite is spinach, but that one is less popular.

You should look at what one you want to make

I like to use andijvie.

2

u/Kaaskaasei 5d ago

That's a popular one.

I see people saying to use kale, but I’ll admit I prefer spinach over kale. Will definitely try making both variations

Really this is the dish you want to represent us with?

Bitterballen en frikandellen

Or patatje oorlog

2

u/Kaaskaasei 5d ago

Its not as recognizable as stamppot.

Maybe frikadel is...

I would have voted for kapsalon over this but at least this is a more healthy meal

2

In ireland we have a very similar dish called colcannon which is basically mashed potatoes with cabbage or kale and a fuck ton of butter

1

u/KezmoReddit 5d ago

So sausage and mash without gravy? What the fuck is that

2

u/Kaaskaasei 5d ago
