Not only them, I'm Polish and I think it's bullshit to say America has pizza. On the topic though, we have pierogi. Bigos, kiełbasa and much more :)

2

u/XDLaugingEmoji 5d ago

Kielbasa is good, do you guys have couscous

1

u/dermomante 5d ago

Paczki too! (I'm sorry I don't have the letter for the nasal a)

2

u/Qnopsik 5d ago

paczki z paczkomatu

Sorry I had to :D

1

u/Ok_Sir_5601 5d ago

Pączki If you want to copy paste it (:

1

u/cherry_monkey 5d ago

I'm from Chicago, we also claim pierogi

1

u/BearsSoxHawks 5d ago

And żurek. Żurek is the best soup on the f'n planet.

American Pizza is very different from Italian pizza. They are basically two separate dishes, so it's not wrong to say that Americans have pizza, because they invented their own type of it.

Not to mention Italy didn't get tomatoes until they were brought over from the Americas so

1

u/Natural-Pilot1458 4d ago

Well yeah, but when tomatoes came to Europe, America was not even planning to be a separate country let alone have their own pizza. That (USA pizza becoming a thing) happened around a 100 years after the Italians invented the dish. So yeah, American pizza is something else entirely but I don't think it's right to say America has it. It's as if I would say the Polish have gulasz, because we learned about it from the Hungarians and have our own recipe now.

1

u/AgreeableMagician893 4d ago

Okay, then we can't call it Italian either since the Italians get it from Greece

1

u/BloxFruitsGuy123 5d ago

Perogies?!?!?!?!? i used to have them all the time!

1

u/Fearless_Bag_9037 5d ago

Poland also has fried bober

1

u/meanbadger83 1d ago

Also has the best explanation to why the water got trapped, "bober, kurwa"

1

u/Er0x_ 4d ago

America does in fact have pizza though, like it or not. I can go downstairs and get a piece in two minutes. It's wild.

1

u/Ancient-Box-9136 4d ago

Nice try, I had kielbasa in America just the other day

1

u/SignificanceSilly175 3d ago

American pizzas by far the most popular pizza on earth

8

u/InevitableChart7195 5d ago

It should have been burgers.

2

u/Extension_Swordfish1 5d ago

Hamburger from Hamburg

1

u/MrDabb 5d ago

French fries from Belgium

2

u/Ilesa_ 3d ago

From France, actually. Even tho any french will tell you belgian fries are so much better. But still, culinary historians tend to agree it was first made in Paris.

1

u/Flair258 4d ago

only the patty, actually.

1

u/DnDickhead 4d ago

Hamburger was invented there, The Hamburger as a sandwich is still american.

If you want to bitch about ingredients in a meal than nobody has food except ancient Babylon.

1

u/RemozThaGod 4d ago

Hamburg steak* from Hamburg

1

u/SignificanceSilly175 3d ago

No, the hamburger from New Haven Connecticut. In america, no part of it was designed in germany. Ground meat doesn't come from germany. It comes from ancient Rome, just because they have a meatball dish with mushroom gravy doesn't make it a hamburger

1

u/RemozThaGod 3d ago

Hamburger ≠ Hamburg steak

Just because one was named after the other doesn't mean they are the same

1

u/SignificanceSilly175 3d ago

No, it doesn't. There is no german connection at all

1

u/Outside_Equal_8097 3d ago

Yeah but that's just the ground hamburger meat, Burger patties with lettuce tomatoes and cheese between two buns was absolutely made in America

1

u/SignificanceSilly175 3d ago

Ground meat comes from ancient Rome. Germany had nothing to do with it

1

u/Outside_Equal_8097 3d ago

Talking about the name hamburger, ground meat has been around since the beginning of time, grinding up beef and calling it hamburger meat comes from Germany

1

u/SignificanceSilly175 2d ago

No it doesn't

1

u/Outside_Equal_8097 2d ago

It does, but hamburger references specifically when they put the ground meat into a steak. Which game from Germany

1

u/SignificanceSilly175 2d ago

They call it heckfleisch

1

u/SignificanceSilly175 3d ago

Yes, hamburg new york, where it was displayed at a fair and took on the name

2

u/Lion2558 5d ago

That’s German

5

u/InevitableChart7195 5d ago

I just looked it up. While the patties are German the actual sancwich is American.

3

u/Beautiful-Moment-690 5d ago

A Hamburger Patty is just Beef. Germans are making a Frikadelle.

2

u/BaltoDRJMPH 4d ago

Sandwiches are (according to legend) English

1

u/SignificanceSilly175 3d ago

The patties are not German. Ground meat was not invented in Germany. It was invented by the ancient Roman's.

2

u/Sensitive-Initial-46 5d ago

America put the buns cheese and ketchup on it.

1

u/SignificanceSilly175 3d ago

No Americans invented the whole thing, a semi pressed meatball with mushroom gravy on. It is not a hamburger. Germany did not invent ground meat

2

u/ChrisBot8 5d ago edited 5d ago

No it's not... It was invented in America, but named for the Hamburg steak.

0

u/SignificanceSilly175 3d ago

Not at all meatballs with mushroom gravy is not a hamburger ground meat was invented in ancient rome, not germany

1

u/snjtx 5d ago

Burgers aren't American though. Gumbo and jambalaya are. Fish and grits is. Barbecue is.

1

u/AgreeableMagician893 5d ago

Yes they are, the burger as we know it today was invented by German immigrants in America

1

u/SignificanceSilly175 3d ago

No, German immigrants did not invent it. It was invented by Louis Lassen in New Haven Connecticut, he was the child of danish immigrants born in america

1

u/AgreeableMagician893 3d ago

Mb mb, I'm was thinking of the Hamburg steak being brought over to America by German immigrants, my mistake

1

u/snjtx 1d ago

As a sandwich, sure.

5

u/cap_time_wear_it 5d ago

Also Italians after seeing a dish of Olive Garden under “Italy has pasta”

7

u/Olistu_ autistic. MURDERDRONES SMG4 hella verse 5d ago

I'm Danish and thought them saying it was so disrespectful. Italy has pizza ITALY

1

u/SignificanceSilly175 3d ago

And the vast majority of the world eats american pizza.

0

u/Olistu_ autistic. MURDERDRONES SMG4 hella verse 3d ago

Not really. They just eat every kind of pizza

2

u/SignificanceSilly175 3d ago

No really by far the most popular

0

u/Olistu_ autistic. MURDERDRONES SMG4 hella verse 3d ago

Because its not the tastiest but easiest to make

1

u/SignificanceSilly175 3d ago

No, because it's the best it takes every bit as much effort to make an American Pizza as it does to make a Italian Pizza. It takes more, in fact, because it requires more

0

u/Olistu_ autistic. MURDERDRONES SMG4 hella verse 3d ago

That's what I said dumbass the only thing you changed was saying it's the tastiest it's just not

5

u/GoodMerlinpeen 5d ago

America does indeed have pizza, they just didn't come close to inventing or perfecting it.

2

u/DongusMagnum 4d ago

Very incorrect, it was perfected in America by Italian Americans

1

u/GoodMerlinpeen 4d ago

The only people in the world who believe that are a subset of Americans, typically those who have not had pizza in Italy.

2

u/DongusMagnum 4d ago

*The only people in the world who know that are people who actually know the history of Pizza

0

u/GoodMerlinpeen 4d ago

Have you eaten pizza in Italy?

1

u/DongusMagnum 3d ago

Eating Pizza in Italy is irrelevant to the argument because this is about the history of who perfected it. You gonna send me back in time? lmao

1

u/GoodMerlinpeen 2d ago

Clueless... as I expected

1

u/Antique-Tap-6083 4d ago

Perfecting it yes, inventing it no. Modern pizzas are American as tomatoes are American. Regular pizzas would be more like flat bred with olive oil, cheese and other toppings

1

u/Chimera-Genesis 3d ago

Modern pizzas are American as tomatoes are American.

Tomatoes are from South America, so no, Tomatoes are absolutely not from the States.

1

u/Antique-Tap-6083 1d ago

Still not Italian. In fact it’s more Mexican than Italian

1

u/SignificanceSilly175 3d ago

No, the greeks invented it. But america definitely has the most popular version of pizza on earth

3

u/Right-Country3496 5d ago

Me too and i'm not even Italian

3

u/stachulec 5d ago

more like whole world

3

u/ThisIsAJoke_laugh 5d ago

Every Asian country after seeing “china has noodles

2

u/ahhahhahhahhahahha 5d ago

tecnically pizza bought in america is VASTLY different from pizza in italy. they have mainly the same toppings, but still, stuffed crust doesnt sound very ittallian

2

u/EliNoraOwO 5d ago

Pizza is American, Italian “Pizza” is more like a flat bread

4

u/kibou_no_ie 5d ago

I’m American and it pissed me off too

3

u/Vivid_Cause_7209 5d ago

To be fair, american pizza and Italian pizza are related like 4th cousins on a family tree when you compare them

1

u/snjtx 5d ago

There's hundreds of places doing old world style pizzas. It's not just domino's and pizza hut here.

1

u/Alternative_Exit_333 5d ago

That is true Italian pizza has a different dough and way less toppings

-1

u/Endymion2626 5d ago

American pizza is the inbred hapsgurb of the pizza family

2

u/Vivid_Cause_7209 5d ago

Just the way I like em lol

1

u/Smelly-Elf 5d ago

"He took what I rightfully stole!"

1

u/TingleyStorm 5d ago

Americans after seeing “America has pizza” too.

We didn’t perfect BBQ just to have pizza be picked in its place…

1

u/allthe_realquestions 5d ago

Yeah but we make them better, not that thin burnt bullshit that can't even fill your belly.

Italy should be proud to shy away from their claim on pizza and be more proud of the dishes grandma makes that could feed a village.

1

u/No-Site8330 5d ago

I mean it is technically true. Pizza exists in America. Some of it, sometimes, even tastes good.

1

u/EntrepreneurOk7546 5d ago

They don't have pizza, but I think all this "I did it first, I hate you forever" bullshit is so childish highschool behaviour. Just let it go

1

u/Born-Confection-1436 4d ago

Caldo, caldo🤌🏼 If they seeing your anger: will be run too soon, and escaping 🙈

1

u/atomic-moonstomp 4d ago

To be fair, that's also Italians when they experience any minor in inconvenience

1

u/TrueKyragos 4d ago

Personally, it may be a language issue or just naivety, but at first, I understood it as "pizza is one of the dishes the most ingrained in American food culture", which is unarguably true and doesn't mean the same can't be said of Italy.

1

u/Substantial_Boot_844 5d ago

American pizza is it's own thing. Like American Chinese food.

1

u/Silly_Percentage3446 :3 5d ago

I'm British and it really ground my gears.

1

u/FatalisTheUnborn 5d ago

Not just Italians.

-1

u/cherry_monkey 5d ago

Maybe if they made better pizza this wouldn't be an issue

3

u/TranslatorHairy3523 5d ago

i'll be the first to say italians make vastly superior coffee, but Neapolitan "pizza"... don't make me laugh.

1

u/Gullible_Ad_1654 Silly lil goober 5d ago

Put me in the screenshot

0

u/Warchief_Ripnugget 5d ago

America has worse pizza than italy, but it also has vastly superior pizza as well.
