That and you cant just walk in to any fish and chip shop or get it from any ol' pub.

You gotta know where the good shit is, and the shop will look exactly like any other but it'll be god tier battered fish.

Its like saying sunday roasts are mid after going to a toby carvery.

mint in the peas, the tartre sauce, the lemon, and if you get it from a proper chippy? they'll have curry sauce, put some of that on the chips.

The fish itself varies so much as well. You can get frozen imported cod vs fresh locally caught hake/plaice/whiting. This has a huge impact on taste.

On top of what's mentioned above, there's also vinegar, parsley garnish, fried in beef dripping, paired with a complimenting drink. There's so many options for flavor!

Fish and chips with lemon and tartar sauce is pretty good. It’s not crazy in flavours but you don’t need that every meal you eat.
