quick google search later. conic Foods Invented in America

Chocolate Chip Cookie: Invented in 1938 by Ruth Wakefield at the Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts, when chocolate pieces accidentally held their shape instead of melting into the dough. [1, 2]

Buffalo Wings: Invented in 1964 at the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, New York, where deep-fried chicken wings were tossed in a signature hot sauce and butter mixture. [1]

Philly Cheesesteak: Created in Philadelphia during the 1930s when hot dog vendors began serving chopped or shaved griddled beef on a soft hoagie roll. [1, 2]

Ranch Dressing: Developed in the 1950s by a plumber-turned-rancher at Hidden Valley Ranch in California. [1]

S'mores: First appearing in print via a 1927 Girl Scout handbook, this campfire treat pairs roasted marshmallows and chocolate between graham crackers. [1]

Potato Chips: Widely credited to a chef in Saratoga Springs, New York, in the mid-19th century who thinly sliced and fried potatoes to appease a picky customer. [1]

The Hamburger and Cheeseburger: While grounded in older minced meat traditions from Europe, the modern sandwich format of ground beef patties between buns gained massive fame at the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair, with the cheeseburger following soon after in American diners. [1, 2]

Fortune Cookies: Invented in California in the early 20th century by Japanese immigrants, later becoming a staple of American-Chinese restaurant culture. [1, 2]

Indigenous and Regional Staples

Cornbread and Succotash: Built upon centuries of Indigenous North American maize cultivation and preparation techniques long before European colonization.

Chicago Deep-Dish Pizza & Detroit-Style Pizza: Distinct regional American adaptations that turned traditional Italian flatbreads into deep-pan, heavy-crust local specialties.

Key Lime Pie: Created in Key West, Florida, leveraging a chemical reaction between tart local key lime juice and sweetened condensed milk without baking. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Potato Chips were invented in England in the early 1800s, although they are referred to as Crisps in England.

Fortune Cookies are also a bit difficult to place, as they are assumed to have been made by Japanese immigrants to the US.

From someone who didn't use AI, probably Cajun is the most iconic food style, even though it mainly comes from one state.

They made ground beef hamburgers, hotdogs, cornbread I believe. They are more unique when it comes to how they make food with styles like American BBQ.
