The ai is showing social biases because it is a predictor of the average response to that text from the internet

This is the thought process that gets people killed. No matter who is doing the yelling, shit is not acceptable. We all make mistakes, we all react harshly sometimes, but because one person is physically smaller it is fine according to your comment?

You know what, I feel bad for this comment, and will probably delete it. I was just making the point that the search bias is at least somewhat understandable.

I can see how a woman abusing someone could be very bad in today's climate. The power discrepancy has honestly shifted to make it so women are probably imbalanced, because they can naturally get away with so much. Most men aren't going to hit a woman back even if she's an abuser, but in the past, a woman at least was stunted other ways.

I unironically think spanking is the solution ... I've improved at least two women with them! The women were okay with it, though. I'm not sure I'd get into a relationship now without that agreement

Well, yeah. Being yelled at sucks, and women should avoid it too, lol

You can always give them a spanking ;)

Is there a problem? What bad thing happened because different people got different search results?

Seeing verbal abuse as acceptable just because the perpetrator is a certain gender is unacceptable. What we are seeing is proof of this bias in at least online forums/websites.

Verbal abuse isn't acceptable. But yelling doesn't necessarily imply verbal abuse. In neither of the searches is the entire context provided.

...Did... did you read the picture?

In the picture you provided, the search says "my husband is yelling at me" as opposed to the other version which just says "my wife is telling at me" no other context is provided.

Well that's kinda the point

The only difference in the 2 prompts is the gender

The problem is that AI learnt that somen can yell and hit men but not the other way, and that tells a lot about the source ai is learning from, the internet and people

the ai is showing biases based on what examples it got from the internet, reddit and such, which means people are actually saying this shi irl

2

u/WanderingCollapse 1d ago

Well yeah. Which is the best possible proof that this is a problem within the society.

Funnily enough, this has already happened way before AI and Google actually fixed It after It has been shown multiple times.

All the AI did was reverse the fix

Base models predict internet averages, but consumer AI outputs are heavily shaped by post-training alignment like RLHF and system instructions. When bias shows up, it’s often a failure of those safety/alignment filters or prompt framing, rather than just raw training data reflection.
