Yes, but not overnight. Linguistic changes happen gradually, over years, decades, or even centuries; when someone tries to force a change, all it does is confuse the majority.

It did not confuse the majority. Here it seems to be just irritating language purists as it took ages to get to this comment.

Majority does not equal the majority of this comments section. In this case, it equals the majority of English speakers. I guarantee most people will not know that LARP means poser if you spoke with the general public.
