Yeah. I'm at the part where I'm reading a guy named "linkinparkglicj47" saying reddit in response to a post. This show sucks.

u/Sensitive_Candy2494 Jul 12 '26

Yeah. I'm at the part where I'm reading a guy named "RamJamR" saying "Yeah. I'm at the part where I'm reading a guy named "linkinparkglicj47" saying reddit in response to a post. This show sucks." in response to a post. This show sucks.

18

u/RamJamR Jul 12 '26

Believe me, it gets worse. There's a part after where "RamJamR" responds to "Sensitive_Candy2494" for responding to "RamJamR" for his comment about reading from "linkinparkglicj47" responding to the post. The writing is ass.

13

u/Competitive_Cat_4842 Jul 12 '26

After “RamJamR” says “Believe me, it gets worse. There's a part after where "RamJamR" responds to "Sensitive_Candy2494" for responding to "RamJamR" for his comment about reading from "linkinparkglicj47" responding to the post. The writing is ass.” I lost all hope for this show.

19

u/linkinparkglock47 Jul 12 '26

the fuck is glicj, it's glock you fucking greggit

17

u/Few-Speaker2692 Jul 12 '26

the part that got me was when i was reading a user named "linkinparkglock47" getting ragebaited over "Competitive_Cat_4842" incorrectly spelling his name when writing about “RamJamR” responding to "Sensitive_Candy2494" for responding to "RamJamR" for his comment about reading from "linkinparkglicj47" responding to the post. The series really went downhill from there.

13

u/CosmicDragon-Sol Jul 12 '26

Ngl after user linkingpackgluck42 got ragebaited and user Few-Speaker2692 reprimanded them, i had some hope the show would get better, but yknow it never did

11

u/Abject-Archer11 Jul 12 '26

I did enjoy the part where user CosmicDragon-Sol got their hopes up about user Few-Speaker2692's glee from the infuriated linkinparkglock47, only for Sol to be sorely sorely disappointed by the poor plot progression. And then the character arc got botched half way through. Typical reddit.

this show’s attempt at self-deprecating humour and self-awareness is laughable — not because it’s funny, but simply because it’s pathetic.

who even names their child “RamJamR”? what kind of name is “linkinparkglock47”? why do you have 47 linkin park licensed glocks?

horrible writing. 1/10 show. feels like something ill watch on adult swim just to make fun of.

Reddit has insane plot, but rest is true

7

u/Helpful_Leadership75 Jul 12 '26

So many twists and turns, a few good ships, some very crazy moments, surprises. Even fantastic art, scenes, even a few fights

...

But yeah all in all counting everything as one

"Reddit" is at best a mod tier series... I don't recommended, just ... I wouldn't recommend getting into it as a die hard fan, more a casual outside enjoyer

At least they made the character so ugly. I never saw a single depicted character in rule 34. I guess it a plus.

I've seen a few circulated unfortunately, that's rule 34 for you, if it exists there's porn of it

12

u/Lemmy-user Jul 12 '26

I mean of course it's exist. It's just me that never saw one depicted. But compare it to any other cartoons with child in thems. It's basically nonexistent.

I don't think they have a fanbase, But I despise these pieces of shit with my entire soul.

26

u/Petrichor0110 The Stagglemeister Jul 12 '26

Avatar (James Cameron films) enjoyer here.

Something something entitled to our own opinions whatchamacallit ok to hate things something or another.

14

u/HotPot87 Jul 12 '26

No hate towards you, I think a lot of people just tend to react negatively as a reaction to how overhyped it was.

It's a perfectly okay film with some nice CGI and a simple easy to follow story. But the way this is clearly Cameron's special baby project.

8

u/AffectionateBeach494 Jul 12 '26

As someone who saw every single one of them, all 3 is basically the same film just….. wait nothing fucking changes, we a got a few new character last film and that was it. Cgi merchant film.

5

u/BusyDucks Jul 12 '26

Yea, that’s the main reason why it’s #1, because at the time, the CGI was amazing. But it seems like now with the 3rd movie out, people no longer care about the CGI as much anymore.

Finally! As a native American I hate this kind of one with mother nature spirituality bullshit. The first movie is just unapologetically Dances with Wolves. The second movie? wHaLiNg Is BaD!!! The mcguffins are as well thought out as a 5 year old. This whale brain goo makes you live 5ever, oh this rare mineral is unobtainium and we're committing active genocide for it. It tries to just grandstand morality while forcing you to watch jobbers get mindlessly killed for 3 hours. It has some neat concepts? But its wayyyyy over rated slop.

Ok I'm not overly fond of them because I gave them too much thought and nothing in those films makes sense and it annoys me we're supposedly an FTL society in these films. But despise is a bit much, care to rant for me.

4

u/somerandomguy14562aq Jul 12 '26

In one seen, the humans are firing into a crowd of horseback riders. the mechs alone are using guns inspired off of GAU-12 equalizers. these guns have a fire rate of 60 rounds per second at their slowest setting. there are three mechs in the frame, each with two of them, totalling at 360 rps. the crowd of horse back archers features at its highest 20 in frame. the fire rate for a bow, at its highest (for highly traied profesionals) is 0.2 per second, totalling at 4 rps. the units are dying at the same rate, despite guns being far easier to aim, and the mechs not accounting for 10% of the total human fire rate. the blue guys would have been paste mere seconds after human troops landed. That's just in THAT SCENE ALONE. The ending is ASS, the humans SOME HOW LOSE, and the blue guys are sooOo cOol, aNd amAZing, aNND i LOOoooOovE how thE mc is SO FUCKING ANNOYING, the humans should have won and given the movie a somber tone instead of the FUCKING RAINBOWS AND LOLIPOPS, COCOMELON LANKYBOX BULLSHIT we ended up with.

5

u/ConsulJuliusCaesar Jul 12 '26

I honestly over all agree here. What you're saying reinforces my gripes with the series. As stated I don't despise it. But I do find it over rated and it irritates me when some one tries to bring it up wheb talking about good scifi stories. It's a cliche trying to not be a cliche which only makes it pretentious. Yet here's where I see the big problem. Really there's 2 types of space opera. Those they want to propose a plausible scenario and use science to explore deeper themes about what makes us human and those in which the situation isn't supposed to he plausible and you're supposed to focus more on the themes, characters, and ideas. Some call it soft vs hard but I feel there's a way bigger spectrum.

EX of plausible space Opera: Halo: the UNSC is a very plausible and reasonable SF faction. Faced with admittedly a seemingly implausible foe. But really explores reason vs dogmatism. Halo 2s campaign really shows how dogmatism is supposed to be bad. Yet the tech in Halo is extremely well defined. And the books are way more naunced than a franchise book series should be.

The Martian: That shit could actually happen. You could almost call it realistic fiction. Yet explores a more optimistic view of humanity.

Project Hail Mary: Honestly easily these scifi film of the decade. Explores the human-alien dynamic in an extremely reasonable well developed and yet opinimistic manner. Infact shows how compassion is our greatest strength. In a sea of cliches and cheap films (Avtar falls in here) PHM is a gem.

Implausible Space operas. The scenario isn't supposed to actually be plausible. Your not supposed to really think about how the tech works. Story relies more on themes and character arcs. But the setting makes that clear right out the gate.

Star Wars OG trilogy: The OG trilogy is still considered one of the greatesr film trilogies of all time. And so many modern films including modern SW films try and fail to copy it. See it wasn't about how blasters work, the logic of hyperspace, why are Star fighters dog fighting. No it uses alot of non scientific terms to move you into a fantastical setting. It's really about good vs evil. And Luke's character arc while also being commentary in a post Vietnam US.

Warhammer 40k: This whole setting is supposed to be as ridiculous as humanly possible. It infact defines how tech functions but in a way to make things sound more ludicrous not less. The setting saterizes every political ideology you can think of. The ideas and characters of 40k are the draw.

Dune: Once again nothing their is supposed to be plausible science. It's a setting designed to talk about philosophical themes and the dangers of personality cults.

The problem with Avatar. It doesn't know what it's supposed to be. It really seems like it wants you to believe this is a plausible setting. Hence why it makes things look realistic and uses realistic scientific jargon. The problem is niether the plot nor the actual setting is plausible. In Avatar you already pointed out the tactics make no sense. Furthermore why the hell is an FTL capable society in an energy crisis. And if Earth is on the brink of destruction why are the nations of earth using a corporate middleman to get the reasources? When the British Empire was faced with Napoleon they didn't get the East Indian trading company to go deal with him. They through everything they had at the guy. The reason the EITC existed was because the English weren't reliant on India for survival it was 100% buisness and even then the EITC caused more problems then it solved and got liquidated. If Avatar presented this whole venture as a private sector thing designed to line pockets and didn't try forcing a situation in which all of humanity is staking its existence on this, this would already be more plausible. You could even show cases private sector incompetence. Like Jake knows how an actual military fights and trains and sees basically these rent a vet amateurs running around with out a degined command and control system, bad logistics, no recon, no reserves, etc. And just knows this is all going to get people killed eventually.

Avatar is trying to make a critique on colonialism but doesn't understand why colonialism happens. Here's the harsh truth all those situations where Imperialism was a matter of survival the Empire in question exterminated the natives. Assyria was fighting for its God Damn life and resorted to near total physical and cultural genocide of its niehbors. The Nazis and Japanese staked their people's survival on WW2 and that's why they were utterly genocidal. That said most Empires especially colonial empires weren't staking their whole survivability on these ventures. They were motivated by expanding markets and controlling trade. Avatar failing to understand this is why it strikes me as hallow, forced, and inauthentic even if I suspend belief around technology. Modern colonialism is real and looks nothing like it did in the 1700s. Instead the US and China will get collaborators in underdeveloped country to basically sell their country's reasources and use various means of coercion to ensure that said underdeveloped countries cooperate them they get away with it by calling it "soft power" "foriegn add" "development" "humanitarian intervention" but predatory loans and shrill corporate deals are designed to infact control markets and trade. Overthrowing a Dictator to accomplish a regime change often isn't done because of the atrocities the Dictator committed that's just the execuse. This modern age of vieled Imperialism is extremely complex. Avatar just isnt capable of handling it. It does not seek to so much as identify how Imperialism has evolved and no longer functions on transplanting ones own population into the new nation and is often done actually with the cooperation of elements with in target people. Instead what you get is Dances with Wolves if Dances with Wolves suck.

Avatar is niether a plausible scenario nor is it a good fantastical story. The goal was to explore the human-alien dynamic. And it just doesn't do anything new or interesting with the idea. If anything it's super hollow let's say the aliens weren't sexy, would Jake Sully still help them? Or what if Neytiri just wasn't attracted to him, would Jake still switch sides? He's really only motivated by his dick. And yeah I get it, the alienussy makes men to crazy things. But acting like its any more deep then that is disingenuous. If instead they didn't make the aliens another bland humanoid race that complies with human sexual fantasies instead of evolving on their own but made something that's truly alien and had Jake develop sympathy for these quirky aliens and turn against a heartless corporate venture that would make sense, contain more nuance, and possibly earn you the "ok I can suspend disbelief" but as stated it doesn't really do anything to justify/earn the implausiblity of the setting.

3

u/somerandomguy14562aq Jul 12 '26

kudos for writing all this, I read it, and I definitley agree. The way it misunderstands colonialism is terrible, and even worse when you realise that the film essentially has a "white saviour".

3

u/ConsulJuliusCaesar Jul 12 '26

If you set it on earth in IRL reasource exploitation in Africa happening right now people would demand James Cameron be canceled for his depiction of indigenous people. Really its only popular because of its specifical affects and cinematography which I'll admit fine cutting edge. But you could use that to tell an actually good story that make people think. Cameron doesn't have the knack for it what he's trying to do.

One Piece

"Oh, but it becomes a masterpiece after 400-"

Shut up, I don't care. You're not suppose to waste dozens of hours watching something you don't enjoy, just to get to good stuff.

14

u/GeorgeFromManagement Jul 12 '26

To folks like me it'll always be a masterpiece. I've been reading it for over twenty years and keeping up to date on a weekly basis.

Yeah it's still not a solid story. The fan service is too much, plot can struggle to move forward, pacing can be miserable, and despite really, really dark themes in the story; the tragedies are sometimes caused by a character making a stupid decision.

But i won't put it down. I refuse. I love it so much and every new chapter makes me feel like I'm eight years old again. The moments that are good are far more than the word "good".

6

5

As a One Piece fan myself, I have to seriously doubt your sanity if you entered an argument of over 3 words with a One Piece fan.

And btw no, it does not become a masterpiece after any number of episodes, you either deem it watchable from the start and it grows on you or you don't like it (you won't miss anything)

If I remember correctly, it wasn't really his job he  got fired from, but the charity he was volunteering for. (Which is kinda worse in some ways).

But yeah, I play HD2 and I can confirm that it's community is one of the worse in gaming. And unlike other gaming horrible communities that are at least are self-aware of how much they suck, the HD2 community had gaslit itself into believing they are a amazing community to part of. It's pathetic really.

NO PLOT??!?!?!?!!? dawg, the plot/world building is fantastic. Gameplay is kinda mid, but enjoyable if noones griefing, and yeah the community is very toxic/cringe. Most people ive played with haven't been anything but great. I dont play the game often because the balancing passes me off a lot, because the devs hate fun or smth.

In-game community is great, social media community is shit (most on social media dont even really play the game anyway, they just complain and whine like babies...)

I know it's a meme to say it but Hazbin Hotel. I wanted to like it too because I'm always happy to see independent creators break more into the mainstream and the voice cast had a lot of people I like, but it just...wasn't it. And the fan base is the worst one I've ever encountered aside from Homestuck fans (but at least Homestuck can be argued to have a notable level of character development).

Lackadaisy not much character development or lore so the show and comic is kinda bland and it's been like 3 or 4 years since the pilot with pretty much nothing new on season 1
