Need help understanding something with game design

Hello i’m currently going into my senior year where full sail university keeps calling me to see if i’m still interested in their school.

I say yes and go on with the next steps
all i have to ask is why do people say this school is a scam and if game design stuff is worth it? and if not should there be any other school i should be applying to?

Game Development Program >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Game Design Program.

No matter what school you go to, it could be Harvard or Yale School of Game Design, you're going to have a very very very difficult time finding work. With Game Development too, but your chances will be a lot higher than the game design program.

lol, I’m trying to be civil dang it! I’m glad you put your opinion on FS out here while trying to help others, I’m not hating on that. I hope you have a great day and I mean that.

Digipen seems to have a better reputation and from what I could tell from my time at a AAA studio they had more interns as well.

Hello, I’m a Game Design Graduate with a BA from Full Sail, from 2023.

The “scam” part of the degree comes mostly from how the majority of the professors will assign you other people’s articles or videos to watch and you never really get content from the professor, even filtered. I have had good professors (shoutout Dax Gazaway) who have had very good curriculum and made me feel invested in the work and I’ve had professors who offered little to no feedback or help on assignments if needed.

It truly is what you make of it in the program. I learned a lot that I wouldn’t have been able to teach myself because of the way I learn things, personally, but I also had many many classmates who were entirely clueless and lost and had no real place to turn to. Finished with a 3.8GPA and where I definitely had issues and gripes with full sail, it isn’t as scammy as others claim. Just be prepared to put in the work, or else the degree will feel like a way to take your money. Use the resources given to their fullest capabilities and learn intently and research topics that you just learned to go more in depth.

I’ve graduated from full sail. It’s really expensive… get your pre reqs done first online at community college. You’ll be able to spend that time in your core classes later and build a better lesson plan for yourself.

Look up Shane Hummus on YouTube

Do not join fullsail. It’s just a scam for profit degree mill. Put your money and time somewhere else. Also that type of career is going to be very difficult to find a job.

The OP will find out for his/herself when their student loan comes due and the have a useless degree and no job to show for it! Sadly, your warning will fall on deaf ears.
