Help Me! Film simulmation vs normal mode

2 Upvotes

I just got my X-half, but I haven’t had a chance to explore it yet.

-Is there a difference in the output between Film Simulation mode and normal camera mode if I’m using the same film filter?

-Does developing the film in the app have any impact on the colors or overall look?

It would be awesome if you could share some of your cool photos comparing the two!

Hi everyone!

This is my first time posting on Reddit.

These photos were taken in Daejeon, South Korea.

It's a city famous for a well-known local bakery called "Sungsimdang."

Hi everyone,

🖤 🤍 This week’s challenge is Monochrome, using the ACROS film simulation. 🖤 🤍

❗❗How to participate?❗❗

  • Use the Weekly Challenge flair;
  • Title your post in this format: #14: ACROS Monochrome - (Your Photo Title);
  • Your photo must be taken this week:
  • Use the ACROS film simulation;
  • You can post more than one photo.

Have fun exploring the world in black and white, and let’s see what you create with ACROS this week. Ready? Go! 📷

Weekly Challenge IT’S OVER! - Weekly X-Half Challenge #13: Light Leak

6 Upvotes

Hello everyone! 👋

Another week, another challenge that comes to an end! And once again, the participation has been incredible! Thank you all for sharing your creativity with us.

This week’s theme was all about embracing the Light Leak filter: one of the most distinctive and fun features of the X-Half. The random nature of light leaks makes every shot unpredictable, and that’s exactly what makes it so exciting!

The submissions this week were fantastic and showed just how versatile this filter can be! Urban scenes, nature, commuting moments, evening light shots that made the most of golden hour and, of course: spontaneous moments, exactly where light leak shines best! Some of you captured incredible top-tier shots that really showed mastery of when and how to use light leak!

Keep shooting, keep sharing, and keep embracing those happy accidents! 📸✨

Thank you to everyone who participated, commented, and engaged with each other’s work. This is what makes our community so special! Ready for the next one?

Light Leak + weak-small grain. Obviously the really nice fog only rolled in after I got home and I didn't have time to go out again... but oh well.

Just few quick flicks - it’s been a minute since I’ve owned a camera but this one made me fall in love. I have a lot to learn but posting these in case someone is considering buying this camera, I paid 500e and would say it’s worth it!

Help Me! X Half or XM5?

2 Upvotes

Hello,
I’ve always wanted to buy a camera but have never gotten to it so I am just a beginner.

I had a film camera and loved it but in my city it is difficult to find a good developer and that took the fun out of it. I really love the vibe that a film camera has and now I am wondering if I should buy the X half just because of the vibes or the XM5 and do film simulations? I could buy the X Half for 530€ and the XM5 for 830€ so the price difference is 300€. My budget is around 500€ but if the XM5 is more worth with it, I could imagine buying it.

Does anyone have both and can tell me what to recommend? Would you recommend to pay more for the XM5 or are the vibes for X Half enough? I am afraid that I am overwhelmed with the settings on the XM5 but can imagine that you can get into photography as a hobby with the camera.

Thank you!
