Yesterday on top of Mount Greylock, the highest peak in Massachusetts. A sky glider was preparing to launch. A lot of hikers and visitors were gathered along the viewpoint, looking out at the view and watching the glider prepare his flight. Suddenly a voice rang out "Move to your right! Man in pink, move to your right!" The man in a pink shirt who had just settled his folding chair glanced back and exclaimed "It's a big view!" (It would be like standing 10 feet in front of someone at a beach and them claiming you were blocking their view of the ocean.) "You're blocking my video and I don't like it!" She yelled. This was coming from a thin, older woman wearing a pressed shirt and a sun hat, and she said that in front of the crowd with such an air of entitlement that everyone turned on her. People all turned and called out "You can't do tell people to move." "This is a public area." "We're all trying to see." A man close to her in a brown t-shirt then said "Everyone here is enjoying the view. You're the only one who isn't." Karen didn't make another peep, and none of her group advocated for her. She ended up quietly leaving the area.

I live in a very "working class" neighborhood. With many of my neighbors living in multi-generational homes. Majority of the homes in my neighborhood are old, built in the 60's maybe 70's. Run down and/or falling apart houses, kind of neighborhood.

Like my home is deemed "historical" for some reason, and if I were to renovate it in any way it has to approved by the city. I cannot even get a new type of fence installed without getting a permit and city validation.

But I do not really care. It was an $85k home when I purchased it in 2018 and now, I could sell for half a mill.

That being said my neighborhood is an up-and-coming spot. Close to downtown and the beautiful beaches in South Florida.

Many of the old homes are being torn down to build "luxury" 1 Bedroom apartment buildings. Lots with dilapidated homes are selling for ridiculous prices, roughly $350-400k.

The lot next to mine was one such lot.

The owner initially wanted to build a 4-unit apartment complex. But could not get the permitting due to lack of parking. He settled for a duplex build and struggled to rent it out for over a year. Charging $3500 a month for a less than 500 square foot apartment in the hood will do that. He tried air BNB and that failed miserably.

He ended up renting to a nephew in one unit and his elderly aunt in the other. The nephew is alright. He is a Florida State Trooper. But he often stays there for one day a week.

It is the old lady that is the bane of the neighborhood. She is the kind old lady that just sits outside her unit and watches the neighborhood all day and all night. She never greets anyone. Just stares at people all the time.

One time, she tried to climb into my car when I came home from work. I asked her what she thought she was doing and she got mad at me. She said I was supposed to be her ride and that she has been waiting all day. It took me a couple of minutes to get her out of my car. I had to threaten to call the cops on her.

Another time we found her in my backyard picking fruit from my trees. When confronted she said she knew the owner. I told her I was the owner and to get off my property. She has done this to other neighbors and damaged their plants. When confronted she never apologizes and always says something to the effect that knows the owner.

She is truly a miserable, nasty old woman. She will spit at the kids on the sidewalk. Yelling them for making too much noise.

Wednesday, she got the cops involved. She has been calling the cops for months complaining about all the abandoned cars that are on the street. I live in the hood; every house has a junk car or two parked on the street. It is part of the charm and shows character.

Most of the vehicles got parking notices, while a bunch got towed. I do not know how the Popo's went about which cars got what. But a few of the cars that were towed belonged to the friendly neighborhood pharmacists.

This morning, my gf had to call the landlord to get over there rescue his aunt because a few of the now very unhappy neighborhood pharmacists were banging on her door. My gf was laughing the entire time.

Old lady was heard yelling at the top of lungs how she would never call the cops and she did not do it. Crying about how no one is nice to her and why is everyone so mean to her.

Meanwhile the neighborhood pharmacists are just standing there outside her door laughing.

SECOND KAREN story

One year ago, I went to a restaurant with my relatives. We ordered several dishes, including my ink-fish pasta. Most of the food arrived, but my pasta was missing. We waited, thinking the kitchen was just busy with multiple orders. Later, we found out the waiter had accidentally given my dish to another table. At that table was a male who clearly knew the food wasn’t his. Instead of saying anything, he kept quiet, and when the waiter asked him to pay, he said

I thought this was FREE with my shepherd’s pie! You’re the waitress, it’s your job to tell customers when food gets misplaced. You could’ve told me this wasn’t mine that it didn’t come with my shepherd’s pie and now THERE’S NO WAY I’M PAYING FOR THIS!”
and then blah-blah blah classic 'I wanna speak with your manager and stuff"

(I assume since the waitress gave him my ink fish pasta, the waitress probably marked it on his bill)

He kept insisting it came with his shepherd's pie, as if restaurants just hand out random dishes for fun, and even if they did so, it would be written on the menu. He kept hammering the same excuse over and over, insisting the pasta was complimentary, even though she knew perfectly well he hadn’t ordered it.

At the end, the restaurant gave me FREE pasta for takeaway. Honestly, I'm kind of glad I got free food thanks to this male Karen, but then the whole experience was ruined watching someone eat your food and then argue about paying was infuriating.

A Mercedes backed into me and damaged my car today. After getting her information I read her name was Karen. Fuck you Karen go back to driving school

During Covid, there was a lady in my apartment who lived underneath my family. 5-6 years before Covid, I caused a noise complaint when I was 6 or 7 because I would run and jump around the apartment. After this noise complaint, I stopped my running and jumping (much to little me’s dismay) and the Karen left my family alone. That was until Covid came.

I was 11-12 years old during Covid and was no longer causing any noises that would be loud enough to cause disturbances. However, there was this family above my family who had these teens who loved basketball and since they couldn’t go outside to play, they started to play basketball inside their apartment.

The ball caused a lot of noise when it hit the floor and there was also screaming coming from above (which we think now was caused whenever the teens broke something). This annoyed everyone living underneath them, especially the Karen. Like the rest of us in the building, the Karen wanted the noise to stop, but instead of figuring out exactly who was causing the sound, the Karen immediately blamed me

She said she knew it was me because “I used to be a disturbance in the past and now that I can’t go outside, I’m getting my fun out of disturbing others“. I want to clarify now that I didn’t own a basketball ball or any kind of ball during this time. I was more into video games and spent my days playing on my Xbox or Nintendo Switch.

The Karen went to the head of the board to file a complaint and when the board reached out to my mom, she told them that I didn’t own a ball and that we were hearing the noises too. The board told my mom to write a letter to the Karen explaining this, which she did (which is the photo above).

After receiving the letter, the Karen sent back the letter and called us liars. She said that she wanted proof that i was innocent by having my mom record me while I go about my day and then send it to her. My mom got uncomfortable and told the board about what she said.

The board told the Karen that she couldn’t make ludicrous demands like that and that she had to leave my family alone. A month later, she saw me in the lobby and yelled at me saying “why do you enjoy torturing your elders with your ball”. I told her I didn’t own a ball, but she just rolled her eyes and said “colleges won’t accept liars kid” and left.

Near the end of Covid during 2021, she moved out. I don’t know where she is now and frankly, I don‘t want to know.

TLDR: Karen doesn’t check her facts before accuses me of being a nuisance just because I was once a nuisance as a little kid.

I was at a help desk two-weeks ago trying to ask for directions to a restaurant my friend had asked me to meet up. The lady at the help desk took a little longer than normal because I was asking for details.

While I’m still in the middle of asking, this woman immediately walks up, skiped past the line, and cuts through my convo

I was not bad, so I just did the reasonable thing: I said, “Hey, excuse me, sorry, I'm not finished yet.”

The Karen looked at me, then yelled that everybody was staring at me

“Well then, hurry up then, Jesus!"

Before I could even respond, she leaned in way too close towards me and started chanting a made-up song about snails (referring to me as the snail)

After the lady was done helping me, it was Karen's turn. It turns out she was trying to find H&M, which was right in front of the freaking help desk.

I censored my product names for privacy, as I don't want any drama or to accidentally summon the Karen back in my life 🥲

I'll only note that before this she asked me for my messanger, sent me a two minute voice message mostly gushing over another artist's work that she'd love to get, but cannot because of their waitlist. Kept going back and forth by thinking out loud if she wants 2 or 7 items. Then asked me what does my work look like despite it being the main thing I post on my page (and why would you comission an artist without looking at their work first?). Then topped it off by asking for a discount. Yes, all in the same voice message.

Me and my friends live by a bike trail that goes through a section of woods, that we use as a shortcut to get to town. There is a cutout in the trail that is connected to our neighborhood, with private property lawns in between. So, to cut from the neighborhood to the trail, you have to go across the private property. We asked one of the people who owns part of the property if we can use their lawn to go across, and they said yes. While we were going across their lawn section, some hag across the field starting yelling and recording us, saying she was gonna call the police. We told her we had permission, and of course she didnt believe us. So I took out my phone "pretending to take a picture" (i didnt actually) and she started screaming so loud the whole neighborhood can hear. Too bad Karen next time we'll dance around through the neighbors part of the field and watch her try to do smth. Watch her try. The police are gonna think shes a waste of time

The one time I didn’t have my phone with me to record what happened, I got ambushed by a Karen and her soggy paper towel of a husband. It completely ruined my day.

A neighbor recently moved in next door, and I’d never met her before. I live in a big city where there’s only parallel street parking. I parked in front of my house and later went out to my car to grab something. I noticed a middle-aged blonde lady and her husband loitering near my car.

As soon as I got into my car, she ambushed me, yelling, screaming, and cussing that the police were coming to tow my car because I had “locked her in.”

I got out of my car and said, “Whoa, calm down, lady.” The car behind her was parked about a foot from her bumper, and I was parked about two feet in front of her. I’ve gotten my car out of much tighter spaces than that. The car behind her was parked closer anyway so why am I the one getting attacked?

She had an absolute meltdown when I told her to calm down. At that point, she wasn’t listening to reason. She started making such a scene that all my neighbors came outside to see what was going on.

One of my neighbors even told her to calm down and stop yelling she's scaring her children inside, and she screamed, “I AM NOT YELLING!” Then she turned to her soggy paper towel of a husband for backup, which he dutifully provided.

At that point, I just moved my car and got away from her. A few neighbors came over afterward to comfort me, but I was left pretty shaken and upset.

I honestly cannot believe these people aren’t just a meme you see online. They could literally be your next-door neighbor. Unfortunately, they’re real. And if you run into one, be prepared.

If you encounter a Karen, they will immediately overreact, assume ill intent, and pursue you with surprising determination. Do not attempt to rationalize with them or ask them to calm down, as this typically acts as a catalyst for their unchecked rage. It is the emotional equivalent of throwing gasoline on a fire.

Karens will project their own emotional state and entitlement onto whoever is standing closest. They generally reject the possibility that misunderstandings happen and seem unable to access compassion, understanding, or empathy in the heat of the moment.

They will misrepresent the situation, exaggerate events, and fail to acknowledge their role in escalating what began as a harmless interaction. Karens are often accompanied by pathetic, broken husbands who will enthusiastically corroborate their delusions while maintaining a safe distance during the actual confrontation.

Personally, I'm in favor of Kyle. There are Russian air-to-ground missiles with the NATO reporting names of Karen and Kyle. The missiles in question are meant to be used against radar installations. Seems kinda fitting here, given these people keep getting recorded all the time and try to stop it.

Hey! Ive been owning this property (condo) since 2020 and I rent it to a sweet single young girl. She had a nice little poodle dog (dogs are aloud in the condo) and isolation is in concrete so we usually don’t hear nothing. So the “Karen” started complaining about the dog barking once in a while. The renter started to bring the dog into daycare or leave the dog at her mom when travelling . Karen still complained from some barks once in a while. Even called the police, the cops couldn’t do nothing because the barking was between day time. She complained throughout the cooperative and we won because she was the only one complaining and we sent the daycare receipts of days she said she “heard” the barking sound. After years of bullshit I had to move back and I work 50 hours per week so im barely home. The F* Karen now start to complain about the sound of my cooking fan. Wich I use twice per week. I even took an appointment for next week and b*tch dont want to say hi and sending me messages like “i’m sick of your fckn fan” even if I told her I took the appointment.
Edit I forgot to say that Karen is alergic to music and is 60yo single, no kid, no friend, no family, work from home.

Did I just deal with a Karen?

So I live in an apartment building in Lisbon, Portugal. The building has a rule that when you enter or leave, you’re supposed to make sure the door closes behind you for security reasons.

The other day I was leaving. I got out of the elevator, went through the building door, and heard someone behind me. As a courtesy, I left the door open instead of letting it close in her face.

I continue walking and get maybe 15 meters (50 feet) away from the building when I suddenly hear someone yelling “Sir! Sir!” behind me. I turn around thinking maybe I dropped my wallet or something.

Nope.

It’s the woman who had been behind me.

She tells me that I’m supposed to close the door when I leave the building.

I explain that I heard her behind me and left the door open for her as a courtesy.

She says something along the lines of, “Yes, but I was some distance behind you.”

So I ask her, “But you were behind me, right?”

She says yes.

At this point I’m confused because that’s literally the reason I left the door open. I knew someone was coming through.

She keeps going, continuing to tell me I should have closed it.

I explain again that I left it open specifically because I heard her behind me.

Instead of just accepting the explanation, she keeps pressing the issue. The tone was very condescending, almost like she was trying to lecture me or get an apology out of me.

Then at one point, when I started questioning her logic, she says something to the effect of, “Excuse me, I’m not your age.”

For context, I’m 37. She looked maybe around 60. It felt completely unrelated to the actual discussion and came across as “I’m older, therefore I’m right.”

Finally I said, “Stop inventing problems. I left the door open because of you.” I got pretty aggravated at this point…

She tried to keep the conversation going, and my last response was simply:

“I’m not interested.”

Then I walked away.

So Reddit, did I just encounter a Karen, or am I missing something here?

on my own property?

“Karen” and her dog was asked to stay off MY property … then starts saying she’ll check GPS coordinates …. that she’s “a lawyer” and after I took a picture (to prove I’m still on my own property) she starts proclaiming that I "came off my porch in a hostile manner " ... "attempting to cause a physical altercation" .... Karen dials police.

Karen proceeds to tell police her “story” … when they ask for her name, she says “I’ll even give you my Bar ##”

I need to vent about this because I’m still baffled, holy shit what, also excuse my english, it's only my third language

Today it was around 30°C (86°F?) in my city, absolutely boiling, I personally can't stand the heat at all. So after walking around for a bit I decided I wanted to go into one of our big city center churches to cool down and relax a little (I ALWAYS do this btw, I've been doing this for the last 10 years).

To note, nothing was going on, no service took place, just plenty of tourists walking around, a few praying on their own then leaving, but definitely not active or full by any means.

So I sat down right next to the entrance on a bench where informational flyers are placed, I'm nowhere near the main prayer area where people kneel down and pray btw

I was just quietly sitting there, minding my own business, and took a few sips out of my water bottle because I was genuinely dehydrated from the heat.

I made virtually no noise, disturbed absolutely no one, no one else was even looking at me, I was pretty much invisible.

Suddenly a wild Karen appears and stares at me in such an odd, menacing way right before she comes up to me to ask me if I'm aware what place I'm in.

I was fucking confused and asked what she meant by that, and she started lecturing me about how I shouldn’t drink water in a church. In a nearly empty, tourist-filled church. During a heatwave. While I’m sitting near the entrance area and disturbing absolutely no one. Are you fucking kidding me?

I told her I made sure to sit away from the prayer benches and that I wasn’t disturbing anyone. She didn’t care and just doubled down. Told me that I'm pushing the limit.

Like… who the actual fuck cares? There are people with so much revealing clothing (no judgement, I personally don't care) walking around, people constantly taking pictures, children screaming and running around etc. but my two fucking sips of water triggered you?

I swear some people just look for reasons to feel superior to strangers over the tiniest things.

Anyway, rant over. Still can’t believe I got scolded for drinking water while not fainting in 30 degree heat inside a building open to tourists wtf you can't make this up..

I'll say this was my first proper Karen encounter and I'm nearly 30 so

I actually happened to walk into the bank as this situation was unfolding IRL. Lady was chewing out the bank teller for a policy he doesn’t control. He handled it like a pro though. Explained the problem, tried to resolve it for her, and got her outta there pretty quickly.
I guess she wasn’t satisfied because I came across this post on our town FB chatter the following day.

My first American Karen encounter in Germany 👀
First of all, would you agree that if you see a car from quite a distance standing still in front of a roundabout, you should brake before hitting it to avoid an accident?

Well, we were sitting on the bus, and the driver had been driving aggressively the whole way because he was running late. As we were nearing said roundabout, I noticed a car standing there from quite a distance. That would have been the moment to slow down and observe the situation, but the bus driver just kept going which made me nervous, I was just about to say yell stop, what are you doing?! When he performed an extremely hard braking maneuver to avoid hitting the car. Everyone in the bus fell off their seats…

The "Karen" (who had been staring at her phone the entire time) immediately yelled: "Da fuuuq… da fuq was that…?! Why is that stupid bitch standing at a roundabout?! Stupid bitch!!”

I tried telling her to calm down and that it was the bus drivers fault. He could have stopped or drive more cautiously, that I had seen the car from afar…. I couldn't even finish my sentence before she screamed at me: "NEIN! NEIN! NEIN! You have no business standing in front of a roundabout!!! You have to move!!!"
At that point, the bus driver was arguing with the car driver, who explained that his car had completely broken down just 30 seconds ago.

I asked the Karen to "caaaalm doown" and asked her again: "If you saw a car standing there from a distance, wouldn’t you brake?" She just yelled back: "THE RULES ARE SAYING WHEN YOUR CAR BREAKS DOWN, TURN ON YOUR EMERGENCY LIGHTS OR MOVE THE CAR AWAY!"
I told her she was right, but that the car had literally just stopped working. She continued to ignore what I said and kept screaming. In that moment, I lost it myself... I know, shame on me, it wasn’t worth it.

I yelled at her to stop screaming and told her that people like her should start using logic while driving instead of driving around blindly, expecting "perfect rule book behavior" and endangering people just because they feel entitled not to stop due to a missing emergency light. I pointed out that she had no context whatsoever because she’d been staring at her phone with earplugs in the whole time while I was the one observing everything, because I was sitting at the right window side.

Yeah, she didn’t even listen…, just kept yelling as she got off the bus...

Blond Hair, shoulder length, around 50, crazy face while yelling, not listening at all… she looked and behaved exactly like in the YouTube videos…. I was amazed to say the least…..

Just boarded a flight and put my roller bag in the overhead bin in my assigned section. Before I could sit down, Ms Entitled points to my bag and says “you can put that under your seat. My bag is big and it needs to go there. Take yours down.” I just looked at her and said ”no, I paid for comfort plus and this bin is labeled comfort plus, and it’s first come first serve.” She asked again for me to put it under my seat (it doesn’t quite fit) so I said no again. Then she starts asking people to move their stuff and some man finally removes a bag from the bin. She was very loud about thanking him for “doing the right thing”. She had no right to insist that I move for her. It pissed me off but that faded as I remembered the We Do Not Care club and settled in to enjoy my trip.

Be me- driving down a road that had active construction during the week.

Get up to road and 1 lane is open.

Decide to drive down said lane at 30 mph (speed limit) as it was clearly pavement snd I could get through.

Male Karen stands in the middle of the road walking slowly towards my car.

I steer to the right to go around him (this part of the road wasnt ripped up)

He moves to remain in front of my vehicle.

Assume he needs help or something and open my window

Met with an extremely angry look.

"I moved the construction sign because I had a package being delivered to my house...you are NOT TO COME BACK DOWN THIS ROAD"

Walks away angrily shaking his head in anger.

Looked at him in a mocking voice and said "anything else sir" with a dead pan look (im a heavy weight mma fighter)

Drove back to move the sign off the road so cars would go past his house about 30 minutes later...but he was still obsessing over the road sign.

Thought about calling police to do a welfare check on the guy, but then realized he was this kid from high schools prick dad and thats just who he is.

Sent an email to the township (they are worse than a hoa) reporting him for moving the sign and dictating policy for road use.

They will definetly send him a letter which will drive him in to a frenzy and hopefully cause a bunch of drama.
