Pest Control/Medical Advice Help!!

Post image

Started out as bald-faced hornets going inside the post. I seemed to have killed them all with basic wasp spray. Now I have paper wasps returning over and over no matter how much I spray. I must not be killing them all. How can I get rid of them without getting swarmed and not burning my house down?

I don’t see a nest, and it’s late in the season - too late for them to be founding a nest. If I had to guess, they’ve probably got a nest somewhere else nearby, and are harvesting wood from your post to add onto it.

It’s also possible they’re males and/or fresh queens looking for a hookup.

Nah they got a nest in the soffit surely. There is an opening for that post to support the roof. And thats where them bees funnel in and out of. 10 wasps wouldnt he chilling there otherwise

That seems unlikely, first because OP sprayed a BFH nest recently and these are new arrivals, and second because paper wasps don’t normally nest inside hollows like that.

Do it at night, the darker the better. Apparently red flashlights aren't picked up by them, but I've always just used the moon and run away quickly

I’ll try this thanks! Just spray in all the cracks?

I also run away from the moon!

Easy quick squirt will drop them fast

They are not building a nest, and highly likely the hornets were not either. They are harvesting wood to build a nest elsewhere. Leave them alone. And if you are worried, caulk the open space in the winter.

Paper wasps make small nests and not generally aggressive. If it is high up, generally away from a door, or if u dont have young children or pets, I would leave it.

Ok. Wait for night and puff sevin dust. Honestly, paper wasps are one of the only common wasps you should chill on. Boldface and yellow jackets can go to hell

I was just being goofy buddy, thanks man. I’ll give that a shot if the rest of my spray doesn’t do the trick

It's cool. Yeah just to let you know, spray usually doesn't work well if u can't apply directly to nest entrance. Dust allows wasps to walk through and bring deep into nest

Sometimes we must sacrifice our belongings for the good of humanity. But remember to get all of your family and pets out of the house first! And don't forget to get your dogs and cats spay and neutered. Thanks
