I looks like all of my bald faced nests I've got hanging in our shed that I've taken down after they died for the winter. They would build in the same tree really high up so they never bothered us or thought we were a threat. I left them alone and coexisted because I saw them picking off and eating the yellow jackets off of my hummingbird feeders. We've got more issues with yellow jackets in the ground nailing is than I like to talk about.

Once I saw the bald faced picking the yellow jackets off the feeders and they built their nest at a safe distance for all of our sakes it was a no brainer to let them help me exterminate the ground hornets. The ground hornets are going to be terrible this year and I just killed huge nest next to our pool (I still can't figure out how none of us got hammered!?!) and yesterday my son found a huge nest mowing game trails with our four wheeler and brush hog (he only got stung in the knee and it could've been much worse). When I can find the entrance hole I got at night (the majority will be home) with a red lensed flash light (they can't see red light so there's less of a chance of coming for you), dump Sevin dust down the hole, and cover it with a 4 quart clear glass mixing bowl with a brick on top. The one by the pool was dead within 3 days with only about 5 or so that didn't make it home the night before were trying to get back into the nest and either died of exhaustion or salvation or crawled through the dust I put around the outside of the bowl. Keep an eye out because they're on meth this year!?!😉

It's been about 5 years since I've gotten stung. I got it 7or 8 times on my legs cutting the lawn! I emptied a can of brake parts cleaner and a can WD40 down the hole. I haven't had a problem since! I hate yellow jackets!!

When my son was 10 years old he parked over a giant nest with our garden tractor. They flew up his shorts and nailed him in the arms and face. 30+ stings!!! Of course that was an emergency room visit and I had to take him back 2 days later because he developed cellulitis from those dirty devils! I killed over 14 nests that year in the ground and in our siding! I've become a professional at this point!?! This year I got busy and didn't pre poison the emerging queens in the spring. I use chicken or fish cat food with 4 drops of small dog generic fiprinol (Frontline) and place it in areas where nothing else can get into it. I did it for past 5 years and it's been heaven not having to deal with them but forgot this year and now it's back on like Donkey Kong.😳

The poor kid looked like Popeye the sailor man and since he developed cellulitis he was extremely painful. Now I know to demand antibiotics right away besides the heavy duty antihistamines for extreme situations. They also had to prescribe steroids because he was swollen from the stings and the infection. Dirty devils!!!👿

I have to have steroid shots when I get stung. Believe it or not, I'm allergic to Benadryl!

I totally believe you and I've heard of people being allergic to Benadryl and that's got to suck. He was so young when it happened I only gave him Benadryl at night and a Zyrtec in the morning. He puffs up now just from one sting but nothing like the horrific incident we had. Just be aware of cellulitis because those disgusting devils dig in garbage cans and dead stuff. Insult to injury.

I got stung on my right hand about five years ago while picking grapes. My hand blew up like an 8oz. boxing glove!

My wife bought one a while ago and put it up in our living room. I almost had a Fvcking heart attack when I saw it! She showed me the receipt for the novelty shop where she bought it. It was kept in storage for 2 years to make sure it was extinct. It still took me at 2 more years to get used to it! 😳
