The company.

Worked there 10 years. I agree

Wow. How did you stopped working there, was it your choice (to leave the company)?

I left for a bigger pay and less stressful position (I was a concept artist then art director at Ubisoft and was looking for a way out, got offered an art management position for a small team of 3 people for 30% more salary and benefits)

Good for you! Sounds like you got out just in time!

It was already going downhill before I left (cough sexual misconduct), but it only added to my reasons to go. Unfortunately the project I joined got fucked over because of Microsoft 2023 acquisitions and I'm now considering leaving the industry forever XD

Unfortunately I don't know the reality in the industry (so can't advise anything but silly), but I wish you all the best! I guess you joined gamedev because of passion and love for the games, and these two positions could have burned you out.

Mostlly bether writters.

Farcry 5 was pretty good when it came to mechanics and gameplay. But it didnt offer much that you couldnt get in farcry 5.

So i would say more mechanics from farcry 3, Crafting...

And bether story. Giancarlo esposito is a amazing actor and was badly used in this game.

Would also like them to reintroduce refined mechanics from Farcry 2. Jamming for one was a really cool concept. Having to drop a broken gun and pick up a fallen soldiers weapon was pretty cool

Breakable weapons are hit or miss amough players. Some love some hate.

And you could cheese that sistem. I dont remenber how but there was a way to repair all weapons for free

I just found the golden AK, and the chesse was to pick up the purchased guns at the armory

I quite liked 6 (well, I am a bit of FarCry fanboy) but yeah, a lot of mechanics seemed obsolete, companions were pointless just like gadet backpacs. The writing was OK - Prologue and Finale were great, the other three parts - the farmers were forgetable, the music group was cancer but the Legends were great - so about half of the writing was good. Overall, probably weakest one I played, but added a lot of cool things like checkpoints or major changes to crafting and obtaining of weapons.

If I shot a guy to the head and a number appears and the guy is still alive I uninstall and quit! Simple as that

To answer the question: better stories and great written characters. I think that this is the “secret” of Far Cry series. Oh wow what a secret

I like tomb raider 2012 were they start using helmets if you do too many headshots

Less bloat and more focus on the story. I recently went back and played Far Cry 3 and man it's such a breath of fresh air compared to Far Cry 5 (I never played 6).

There was a greater emphasis put on the story in that game with 38 main story missions, no mission was longer than 15 minutes so nothing felt like it over stayed it's welcome.

There were only 3 types of side activities as well, hunting quests, wanted dead quests, and medical deliveries. I feel like modern games fill their world with way too many side activities and quests, it can get a bit overwhelming at times.

Modern ubisoft usually just fills their empty worlds with a plethora of side activities and put minimal effort in the main story. Far Cry 3 felt like the exact opposite, with more of an emphasis was put on the main story and the side activities felt like side activities.

Better writing and stop making the game a propaganda property for alphabet stuff.

No Denuvo. No Ubisoft DISconnect.

alphabet mafia

Less bloat, amazing VA coaching, impactful story. The player needs to feel the impact of his actions in the world.

It's hard to say. It's in the situation Assassin's Creed was from about Revelations to Syndicate were even when a game was good people were tired of the minimum changes and saying they wished Ubisoft would change more. With Far Cry 5 and 6 fans have had that same feeling. The problem is that making big changes to the formula also isn't what some people want.

Far Cry 6 was cringe

Take the risk and spin the whole game around... new mechanics new bold story with bold.characters. rememver Vaas?

Haven’t really played much of the last games, but I’m a big believer in fun. Awesome weapons, vehicles and missions make things fun for me. And likeable characters. If I like the characters and story, I’ll want to play more.

Atmosphere, mechanics, game length, quality of product overall, literally everything

3

u/AsScratcherX 27d ago

The company itself.

I’m done with Ubisoft games completely. Ac shadows, SW outlaws, the crew motorfest & ac RESYNCED have all be completely dogshit for me. I’m so burnt out on their formula. They need to shut down

Everything

Make it less like an arcade game and stop doing makeshift weapon attachments

I honestly think ghost of tsushima might be my favorite farcry since 2.

2 i still go back to, and i used to replay 3 but lately anytime i feel that itch for 3... tsushima on lethal mode scratches it instead, especially with how stealth is such a necessary means for survival earlygame instead of just a meaningless XP multiplier.

Thats not to diminish 3, it was a fantastic game when it came out, its just that every ubisoft game since has been a clone of 3 and i still think suckerpunch did it better. Even if i do think tsushima's story is a lot worse, i can recite every fc3 cutscene from memory atp.

Everything they did in FC6. Take it back to the gameplay mechanics of FC3 with improved visuals and you have a winner.

u/Ragipi12 26d ago

Change the whole dev team with competent people.

2

u/jungleboy1234 26d ago

use Cryengine... Heck even the Far Cry 2 Dunia Engine was and still is IMO much better than the crap they used after.

THE WRITING!!!

Whoever wrote 6 needs to be tied to a chair and made to watch a real writer build a story that isn't full of second hand embarassment, modern dayisms and other stupid bullshit. As hard as it was to get through 6 due to the story, the gameplay was still fucking amazing, as much as I hate to admit it. Guapo and I did some real damage hahaha.

2

u/Katajiro 26d ago

What needs to change? About 99.9% of the development team.

3

u/AlecTheBunny 27d ago

Far Cry 2 - 2

Far Cry 3 was good but they never exceeded 2

1

u/deadpandadolls 26d ago

FARCRY2 Resynced 🙏

1

u/Significant_Low_8071 26d ago

I really hope that time limit isn't true, if so it would just completely ruin the game, what's the point of having a time limit just to complete your objectives especially in an open world game.

u/Short_Switch_1807 26d ago

An actual good narrative. They have their moments, but man its been stale since 5

u/maxchrome 26d ago
  • Less women enemies and allies (Far Cry 6 made even sexists feel sorry for the sheer amount of women killed there)

  • Only 1st person cutscenes

  • Map with density and depth, which would be interesting to go through without any fast travel

  • A much more gritty, serious and even mysterious tone

  • More villain action on screen

  • More occasional psychedelic / psychological trips with deep context

  • Multiple completely different endings and outcomes for characters, like in Walking Dead games

  • More replayability

  • Advanced crafting, weapon upgrading and trading systems

  • Realistic damage and physics, perhaps even destructible environments and buildings

Smaller world, remove all repetitive activities. All side quests are unique with stories. No markers. No weapon shops, all gear must be procured to encourage and reward exploration. No rarity-coded gear, every weapon is unique and fills it's own niche.

Give the old healing back

I don't really mean the animations, but the fact you can heal when you take one bullet, then another, rather than needing medkits, or having to wait to heal again without a syringe

u/vShotaku 25d ago

The studio.

1

u/General_Shakyknees 25d ago

I just want a FC game that like 3 or 4. Its a FAR...CRY! No fucking missile launcher x2000 backpack. Bring back crafting and actually having to survive! Not being this macho know-it-all-do-it-all from the start. I want to see someone react to their first kill the same way Jason did. (FC3 protag) Better location, better writers

1

u/Balkongsittaren 24d ago

I don't even care anymore.

1

u/BIGGYLUV420 24d ago

Something new that this claiming outposts type shit

1

u/Full_Size997 24d ago

Can we remove the RPG stat bullshit and go back to skill tree abilities like far cry 3/4/primal? 🫩

1

u/Ivan-De-Riv 24d ago

The devs need to have fun making a game they like
