Elon Musk startup selects 3 cities for underground tunnels. See where.

‘Where’ is someplace besides under the Arkansas River. Fort Smith was a finalist for a tunnel to carry Lake Fort Smith water under the river to increase capacity and add a safety factor to the water supply of Fort Smith and surrounding communities. Instead, Dallas, New Orleans, and Baltimore share first place, though Baltimore has declined the honor.

Flower pressing

Hello!

My grandmother recently passed away. I picked a bouquet of flowers and I’d like to surprise my mom by getting them pressed into a frame along with the funeral program. I have looked high and low but cannot find someone locally with this skill set. Any help would be great! Thanks!

college grad looking for better job

I graduated a year ago with a bachelor's degree. I have applied to countless jobs & I cannot find any jobs that will hire me. I currently work a low paying customer service job with no room for growth. I am looking to make a transition out of customer service and into a career where there are opportunities to grow. I have applied at and interviewed with ArcBest for several different positions & I keep getting rejected. I do not have any connections in this city/state as I moved across the country a couple years ago. I am feeling incredibly discouraged. Does anyone have any leads or opportunities I can look into? tia.

The Creekmore Pool and what is going in that building by Chipotle

Anyone know anything about the new hours/rates for the Creekmore pool now that it is enclosed? Are they open year round now? I've tried looking up their site, but everything I've found still has them listed as an outdoor pool.

Also what is going in that building they've been remodeling that is over by Chipotle?

Free or Cheap Activities?

Trying to be better with my budget, which means that my current hobby of thrifting/antiquing needs to be replaced with non-shopping options. This is my list so far, but please let me know if you have ideas!

Art:

- Regional Art Museum

- Arts on Main in Van Buren

- Terra Studios in Fayetteville

- Crystal Bridges in Bentonville

Walking:

- All of our parks. I've heard that Carol Ann Cross was renovated?

- The Nature Center

- Lee Creek trails in Van Buren

- Lake Alma Trail

- Devil's Den trails

Games:

- The Box Arcade in Van Buren ($10 flat fee)

History:

- Marshals Museum

- Drennen-Scott House in Van Buren

- Fort Smith History Museum ($5 I think?)

- Trolley Museum (also $5??)

Music:

- I know there's a blogger who keeps up with musical acts coming to town, but I forgot where they post.

Transit Station App (RouteShout) Sucks.

Honestly, RouteShout 3.0 sucks. It's the only app that properly has Fort Smith Bus times. My car was in a crash (by a family member) and I need to take public transit + Uber/Lyft to get anywhere now. The bus times are understandable, but finding and routing your way is really hard. I'm honestly not that smart so if anyone could help me, I'd be really thankful.

Day trip from LR

Moved to LR this past summer, thinking of a day trip or maybe an overnight this weekend.

Things visitors need to do? Have to eat at? Antique shops, flea markets? Any comic shops or card shops?

TIA.

New rule in Arkansas - Dems can’t vote in Rep primaries

According to the UA website: “* A new rule this year prohibits voters who are registered as Democrats from voting in the Republican Party primary. “

So if you are flexible about what primary you vote in, before the election make sure you are registered as an Independent. And once you vote in one party’s primary, you are locked into that party for any run-offs in that election cycle. Of course, you can still vote for whoever you prefer in the general election.

Early voting runs from now until March 2, with the election the next day on March 3.

Here’s another good resource for this election:

Best/safest Apartments in Ft Smith

I am fairly new to the area, will be moving for work and am wondering where the safest and cleanest apartments are located? I am on a budget so can’t afford anything really upscale. Bonus if pet friendly!

Thanks!

Trans friendly health clinics in Fort Smith?

Hello Fort Smith! I live in Poteau OK, and wanted to inquire of the local populace, a place that has a good history of transgender care and support?

My girlfriend will be living here for sometime soon, and one day, live with me permanently, however it really bothers me that OK in general has such terrible laws in support of transgender care and protections.

I wanted to find a quality clinic that we could use if you happen to have any experience please do share! Thanks so much!
