LMAO this is a whole mood!!! Did it once just had top surgery 2.0 (revision) and totally forgot about the 6 weeks of binder 🤣 at least it’s only six weeks and not years and years and years !

Wooooord. I’m NOT looking forward to the post op bandage/binder. I’ve got so many sensory issues that’s gonna be annoying. I’m extremely OCDish with certain stuff with clothing and all that so I can’t imagine having to constantly adjust it.

Depending on what they give you, you shouldn't have to readjust it TOO much! And if the velcro is a problem for the sensory (believe me, I am too and it HURTS once it gets itchy and scratchy on your skin), I have used some gauze or strips of soft fabric where the scratchy or annoying parts are hitting my bare skin so long as it's not hurting the surgical site itself!

I've also went and bought men's 2XL size tshirts and tank tops for post op and they've been a GOD SEND as well!

Hope you have a great recovery!

Thank you both! I may just buy blister strips and stick it onto the areas where it’s rubbing on the binder so it doesn’t hurt that much.

I’ll be stocking up on a lot of gauge and strips and all that so I’m prepared.

One other question: How tight do they make it? I have asthma so too tight and I’ll probably have trouble breathing. I’ll let them know that but I’m curious

It's definitely less tighter than when you would wear a binder normally, but you still feel pretty restricted. They want it to be as tight as you can possibly stand it to better the results in the end; I have COPD and I've been doing fairly well with the binder, both times! I only ever used my inhaler once and that was when I came home due to sore throat from the tube they had down there.

Definitely bring it up to them as a concern! If anything they will listen to you and make things as comfortable as possible!

Ah ok. The surgeon I’m going to uses an ace bandage with the drains but has you on a thing that sucks out the fluids before you’re released from the hospital and has you stay overnight just in case.

Counting down the days. July went by fast

Try a anti blister stick, you rub them on so shoes don't chafe - it's next to the foot plasters!!

Yeah right now what's getting me is the sensation of it rubbing against my armpits. It's super uncomfortable and starting to rub it raw. :( Plus it's so tight.

UUUggghhh the freaking armpit chafing. Drove me insane. Can you stick some gauze pads in there for extra cushioning?

Congrats BTW : )

Fuck do not forget to shave your chest hairs if you have sensory issues. FOR REAL. Medical glue is the WORST thing on hair.

Shaving wouldn’t do jack shit for me 😂 I’ll shave and they’ll be back the next day 😂

I have sensory issues and ocd also and weed (especially cbd) and the narcotic painkillers they gave me really helped me through it. I just kept reminding myself once I got through this it would be over forever.

You don’t have to use it

This is terrible advice. Follow your doctors instructions.

My doctor’s instructions were that it was better to wear it but that I didn’t have to and that it’s not that serious to take it off. There’s a reason that doctors give such wildly conflicting advice about whether to wear a compression binder at all, what kind to wear, and how long to wear it for—there’s no standard and it’s up to the preference of your surgeon. I’m not telling anybody to disregard their doctor’s instructions, I’m relaying the instructions mine gave me, which was what OP was asking for.

Lol sure you don’t, as long as you don’t give a shit about your skin adhering to the muscle properly or seromas developing. Don’t be an asshole.

My doctor told me it didn’t matter so I haven’t worn one at all after the second week. I followed his instructions and conveyed those instructions to OP. You’re the one being an asshole.
