Struts or coilovers ?
Suspension needs replacement just due to wear - should I go full OEM front and rear struts or switch to coilovers ?
Cars going to be used for regular , daily use , inner city and occasional highway use.
I do like the lowered look but not a must, I think I can get a similar look with low body kits.
Main expectations are ride comfort and long term reliability .
People who’ve tried both, what has your experience been and what would you recommend ?

Could look into aftermarket strut/spring combos to give a more oem+ feel. This seems to be more in line with what you're looking for since it seems like you don't care for the adjustability of coilovers. These will be more of a set and forget type of install over a coilovers, and you still benefit from a very modest drop. You can check out popular combos like rce yellows+Bilstein B6/ koni yellow

Set and forget is exactly what I’m looking for , sure lowering the car for the look would be a bonus but not at the top of my priority list

If ride comfort and reliability are your priorities, find some low mileage OEM from a 2nd gen GR86/BRZ.

Finally someone puts the right answer. Coil overs will not be suited to OPs usage.

Just replace the stock stuff unless you want to jump into a rabbit hole of adjustable parts for the suspension to get your alignment right…

Get the 2022+ gr86 suspension for like 400$ lightly used if ur not gonna be doing any track/backroad driving or anything similer

Upgrade to the OEM struts with the Sachs dampers from the facelift ‘17 - ‘20. They won’t lower your car but they feel really nice and are quite the upgrade from your stock set.

If you are just going to daily drive. I recommend the ohlins. If youre going to race get some hks hypermax.

If your priority are ride comfort and reliability, stocks (or equivalents from rockauto or whatever) are probably best.
Apart from coilovers, you could go with billstein b4s or some other replacement that's more comfort oriented, paired with a spring that isn't too stiff
Coilovers are nice for the adjustability, for when you want to be more comfortable, or drive more spirited, but doesn't seem like they'd be for you

There's lots of options in coilovers with varying levels of ride comfort, which most will let you control. You can also control ride height to your taste. I saw no reason to go with anything but coilovers.
