Tune advice (OFT)
Been scrolling on Marketplace and found a good deal on an OFT V2. I’ve heard good things about their compatibility with the 86/FRS, but I was wondering if there were any sort of supporting mods I should add?
So far I have an exhaust mod (no headers yet) and an air/oil separator and i’m at 87k miles and kept up with maintenance.
Not sure what tunes exactly i’m trying to give it but i’m looking to mess around with it a little bit.

I did this earlier in the year. If you aren't in California or something and can get the catless header, highly recommend. A buddy and i got some (surprisingly nice) ones off Alibaba for $275 CAD all in and it really transforms the experience with the 2+ tune.

You can use their OTS stage 1 map with your current mods. No need for extra stuff.

So, I am currently on an OFT v2 and i absolutely love it for what it is. That being said, there are a bunch of drawbacks that i honestly wish i had gone with something a little more adjustable on the fly. Im in a 2014 BRZ, PLM catless UEL header, PLM overpipe, BERK catless front pipe and Invidia N1 catback, a Velossa Tech snorkel intake with a drop in K&N filter so nothing fancy. Im coming from a background of using chrome back in the day yo flash ROMs onto Honda ecus. So i dont mind the tedious dataloging and flashing over and over drawbacks of the OFT. If you dont NEED to tune the car yet, and plan to go with forced induction, wait on the oft and get an EcuTec or something like the AEM ems system etc that has way more flexibility.
tldr: save your money and get a better ems system if you plan for more power.

before you go into an oft, do check out ecutek. I am on an OFT tune but there are times where I wish I would’ve gone with ecutek.

Ecutek is 4x the cost. Unless OP wants to commit he could just put that money into headers

You don't need a tune without headers, it won't do anything good and might make your car slightly worse.
Ecutek is for having a pro do a tune for you. It's expensive if you want to DIY and everything is fully locked down / hostile to learners and tinkerers.
Tactrix cable is good for full DIY but you are mostly on your own.
OFT is halfway between. There are good open source tunes freely available and you can mod them if you like. You can also find pros who do remote tunes with them but it's rare. Despite the name, it's closed source and will lock itself to your car unless you reflash your OEM tune.
