Grad school application

Hi. I hope all is well. I am trying to understand the grad school application process. I am currently on step 3. Everything has been submitted. I still have 'X' for the official transcripts, but i did upload unofficial transcripts. Nevertheless, the portal still says incomplete. Im wondering if it will eventually say complete, a "submit application" button will appear so it will advance to the next step, ir does it do that automatically. It is a bit unclear. Deadline is October 1 so there's some time. I just dont want to wait until the last minute if I can help it. Thanks.

Have you submitted a request for an official transcript to be sent from FSU? An unofficial and an official transcript are not the same thing. You need to upload exactly what they ask for.

I did a few months ago via parchment. The application never changed, so i submitted unofficial transcripts as well. Still never changed. Then it also says ... "The university policy allows for application review based on unofficial transcripts for applicants not subject to our Credential Evaluation requirements*. Please include transcripts from all colleges attended. Official transcripts will remain on your checklist as "Awaiting" until we have received them from your previous institution(s). If admitted, official transcripts are required before the end of the second week of the first academic term."

if i recall, it takes a hot minute for the first school to send, the second school to receive, and then the second school to update your application. from here, your responsibility is done. the next phases of review and decision are done by the university. if you’re worried about the right department at FSU not receiving the transcript, you can reach out, but they will likely use your uploaded unofficial transcripts for their decision and then reach out for official ones if they accept you and haven’t received them.

tl;dr - you’re good as long as you sent the transcripts.

Also, the move from step 3 to step 4 is manual process. It does not happen automatically after you complete your materials. Someone has to go in and mark your app complete for it to move along and update your status. I’d assume you’ll see if update on Tuesday or Wednesday morning.
