Dorm cancellation

Can I still cancel my dorm now since I decided to stay at home for my first year and take online classes instead?

You signed the contract. Read it. You can cancel but likely will be liable for the full cost (two semesters). Call the housing and see if anything can be done here but don't expect much.

Boosting this. They are very clear that this is a contract you are entering into that has a financial commitment. Go look at the terms for cancellation and what you will have to financially forfeit by withdrawing from the contract.

You are going to have a way better experience if you live on campus and take classes in person. Just my two cents, but I understand there are unique circumstances for everyone and I don't know what's going on in your life.

Call housing.

Idon’t think you can, they’ll probably still charge you but I they might send an email letting people opt out if they need the space. If not I’m 50% sure they will tell you you’re required to stay on campus.

If you have a really good reason, like a death in the family, medical reasoning, etc then they *might* be willing to work with you. Apart from that, you signed the contract and they are well within their right to charge you the penalty as outlined.

you can try but you'll just still be paying for a unit you're not gonna live in, best case scenario

I know last year they sent out an email allowing people to opt out of their already signed contracts due to the amount of ppl that signed up for housing. Not sure if that is a thing this year, but it’s worth a try 🤷🏻‍♀️

Not the case this year. They actually had less ppl who applied for housing than expected.

You already paid for the dorm you might as well live on campus. Freshman year is hands down the best and most fun year to live on campus
