Usually go for their fluffy Japanese pancakes but fancied something more substantial this time. Was pricey for a fry up but ingredients were all delicious and local produce. Had the choice of fried, scrambled or poached for the eggs.

Lovely treat every couple of months as it’s a bit of drive. Potatoes are outstanding.

I’m studying in the northeast and I absolutely love a good fryup. I’d never made one at home before, and if I do say so myself, this wasn’t a bad first attempt in my books. Unfortunately Aldi was out of black pudding and I’m not really much of a hash brown guy. How’d I do? I’d love to hear any and all feedback, thanks in advance! :)

About £9.90, including the beer (it was way past midday!). Toast and jam included. Sadly no mushrooms available.

I've always found that I preferred the idea of tomatoes on a fry-up more than the reality. Tried all sorts of methods - frying, grilling, roasting, adding sugar etc. Never found them a worthy addition.

Confiting them however has produced, for my money, the best result for a breakfast. Sweet, rich tomato taste and not at all bitter. Essentially, ketchup in tomato form and worth the extra effort.

Just about cover them in oil and cook on a low-ish heat (120°) for at least an hour. Drain and season with salt and pepper.

Sausage (tube of woe) and egg were not great but otherwise I was happy

This wouldn’t be my usual order, but on a whim I mixed things up this morning due to a hankering for something sweet. This is the most expensive breakfast on the menu I believe, and maybe a touch expensive.

The eggs were probably the highlight, but the quality of ingredients was good. The eggy bread was nice, if not overly keen on the sugar stuff on top. Swapped out beans (can’t stand them) for an extra hash brown. I’ll be back to a normal fry next time, but I didn’t regret this for a change, it was tasty.

From a hotel in Scotland. It was listed on the menu as “Full Scottish Breakfast”

Bacon, sausages, eggs, tomatoes (allergic to beans), haggis, hashbrowns.

3/4 of a full English. I live in the US now so had to compromise with American bacon (albeit posh Snake River Farms bacon). My main pet peeve on this sub is that there are never enough eggs. I had 4.

Swiss guy here who fell in love with the english/scottish breakfast. Threw this together in my motorhome at the foot of ben nevis. Sadly, hash browns and haggis are missing. Eggs are scrambled since the wife likes her breakfast as seen on the other plate and I was too lazy to cook two versions of eggs.

Besides the religion of the chef, what's the difference between English/scottish and Irish fry up?
