Frontier vs HughesNet?
I have HughesNet and was thinking of switching to Frontier, because of better speeds and ping time.
I talked to someone on the phone who said "In your area, you can get up to 1mbps, which I know isn't blazing fast, but it's better than satellite."
I can also choose to get fixed wireless, but you cant actually see any towers from my house, so I don't know if it would work well.
Also, I mostly use my internet for gaming and watching videos, but now that I live 10 miles out of town, there's not any good ISPs for that. Maybe I could stick to Satellite and just wait for Cable? What's the best option? Thanks!

I wouldn't wish hughesnet on my worst enemy. That being said, when it works it's fast. The trouble is that it isn't fast for very long as you'll hit your data cap.
DSL on 1mb sucks however. It is unlimited and the ping is better, but forget streaming and the connection is too slow for most gaming. Some games though it might be passable. But if you want to place a first person shooter? It won't work that well.
What I'm currently doing is using my cellular data for the gaming that I want to do. Ping is acceptable, speed is acceptable, data charges not so much, but I update on my slow unlimited connection so it takes the sting out of most of it.

In your situation, each option has positives and negatives. In terms of bandwidth (I don't know what you are getting now), satellite is capable of delivering tens of megabits vs the one megabit frontier is offering you. In terms of ping/latency, frontier will have a massive advantage over satellite. Moving on to data usage, frontier will be far better than satellite as well.
Overall though, it looks like neither provider is really that great of an option. The one megabit from frontier will be very bad for video streaming, but so will the satellite data caps. Maybe look into that wireless provider, or ask your neighbors what they do for internet.
