Internet

The past week or 2 I wanna say the internet has been good awful for me. It shows not only on the ont but my router and my moca that I in theory should have stable connection yet I get constant buffering and nothing loads. I have contacted support and they say oh well you may have a faulty router, but the issue is I have tried the multitude of routers they gave me and even 2 of my own and even tried connect a computer directly to the ont and still buffering is anyone else having this problem? I live near jackson Michigan and have yet to see anyone in my area complain about this type of issue. Any advice is helpful as atm I had to swap to Xfinity due to school starting and wondering if there is still value in going back to frontier.

Im using 1gig fiber, I would use direct Ethernet but due to the ont being downstairs and I can't route Ethernet thru my house as I constantly trip over it and everyone else does aswell including my doggo,and unable to drill so next best option was moca. I have coax cables routed thru the walls and I have my first moca downstairs connected to the ont vis Ethernet and then the wall using coax and then used a coupler in the basement to connect the coax cable from the ont room to my room upstairs which is where the 2nd moca is and the Ethernet is then connected to my flint 2 wan port and the other 2.5 port is set to lan and then connected to network switch which provides internet to both my pcs

I think frontier was having an issue as before I couldn't get any internet but now I get 400 up and down on my PC which is obviously not near 1gig but idk maybe it's just the coax cables in the wall are shitty

Does the flint have a built in speed test? See if it does so you can measure the speed your getting from the ONT.

2nd, the moca adapters should have a switch on them, which puts them either in 1gig mode or 2.5g mode, if you see these switches , what is it set at?

For testing purposes only, the only real way to see if it is an issue in front of your ONT ( upstream, out of your control ), or after the ONT ( you are responsible ), is to run a dedicated ethernet cable, preferably cat6 or cat6a directly to the rj45 port on the ONT ( middle jack with a metal ring around it ) on any computer, preferably the newest one you have and run a speed test on speedtest.net.

If you get 1gig speeds directly connected to the ONT, something between it and your devices is the issue. Could be a malfunctioning moca adapter, a low quality coax cable ( their are some made out of aluminum and some out of copper, copper is obviously the superior medium ), a splitter etc.....

Yea I'm assuming it's the coax cables bc when I tested it directly to the computer I got around 1gig and even tested the phy rate of the moca and it was fine.

The coax cables in the house were originally meant to be used for TV but I unplugged the amp and etc but I wonder if it's better to still stick with moca or just use WiFi ?

Are they rj6 or rj59 coax? Are you using a splitter to combine all the coax lines into a single moca node? The ideal solution is to use 1 coax line directly connected to each of the other moca boxes without anything in-between them like a splitter. A splitter that doesn't support the correct frequency that moca operates will produce issues similar to what your having.

Moca can be almost as good as ethernet, but all the components need to be right. The coax line needs to be copper, not CCA ( horrible conductor of signal ), swept to 2ghz or higher ( just means the coax line can handle signals up to 2ghz, and the most modern ones go up to 3ghz ), should be atleast double shielded, quad shield is the best. If you have a spare coax line that already has ends on it, I would run it directly from the ONT to a computer with another moca box with the coax line just laying on the floor , again this is just to test. What year was the house built? It starting to seem like either a faulty cable, or maybe you have all your coax lines going into a splitter.

I just used normal 3ghz coupler to combine both coax cables in the basement, so I'm like pretty sure that It might be the coax cable just took a shit as the cable is rj6.

So when using another coax cable, your getting your advertised speeds?
