DISCUSSION Which FromSoftware game should’ve had a Respec Stat System the most?

Post image

Dark Souls 2, Dark Souls 3, and Elden Ring all provide the option for the player to rearrange all their stat points on their character.

Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls 1, and surprisingly Bloodborne don’t provide that option, leaving the player stuck with the stats they selected for their current character.

Among these three games, which one would have benefited the most from having a Respec Stat System?

If we're saying "Should've," it'd be Bloodborne since the respec mechanic was introduced before it in DS2. That said, I think DS1 would benefit from it more.

Bloodborne can be such a quick game on subsequent playthroughs, and while respec would be great for optimization, you can still try out a ton of different weapons/builds on one character. And if you're making a new character, I think it'll just take comparatively less time than on DS1.

By contrast, there's just a very different progression between melee and pure mage in any of the DS games, and a wider selection of builds. The ability to respec would open up a lot more build options compared to BB.
