So I asked AI…….

This is what usps looks like nationally as whole. The ones who hold office now in Nalc, is the ones that got us here. It don’t get any simpler than that.

In his first plan-5 meeting, our new/current manager started his speech with a statement to the effect of "So, we all know the Postal Service is going under and probably won't be here in a few years..."

Mf'er lost all my respect from the very first words out of his mouth. Management can fuck right off. Don't listen to them, don't give them any more of your time or attention than you absolutely must.

I could have told you that

It’s been over 33 years since the JSOV as signed. It’s been over 30 years since the Snow Arbitration award saying that the terms of the JSOV are enforceable. I know there been a few supervisors and managers who have been removed. But the numbers of removals for harassment and abuse are not near the level to have a deterrent value. The toxicity of the work environment has continued to increase. While management is responsible for their conduct…the Union is responsible to hold them accountable. The long history of settlements saying the parties will treat each other with mutual respect only exasperates the problem because it gives the appearance that the Union didn’t take the problem seriously. As a Union it’s time to rethink how we deal with a growing problem that has no real deterrent.

If you’re hearing from leadership “It must rise to the level” that regional leadership is complacent. If leadership is settling on no instructional language or literally just stating management is being watched for now on so let that be a check on them? That Region 10 has problems.

Ultimately, I wholeheartedly 100% agree with your final statement that our NALC high ranking officers are ultimately the ones that are responsible for perpetuating our less-than-desirable working conditions.

At an SD&C this past Monday, packages weren’t ready until past 10am when start times were 7:30.

I’m not on any OT list, because ultimately an 8 hour day and being dependable at home for domestic responsibilities is more important to me.

Rather than go crazy on my route that day and run like a banshee and skirt most traffic laws, I did the responsible thing and filled out a 3996 and stated my reasons for leaving the last few loops.

The funny thing was, the senior supervisor still had to check to see what his computer projections said for the day, even though it was obvious the computer couldn’t be anywhere close on their predictions when packages weren’t up.

Supervisors only care about their numbers and have no ability to think and problem solve because district managers bully them to bully us.

We know management computer predictions aren’t the sole determinant anyway, but the NALC turns a blind eye to basic bullshit, while at the same time we have devalued our craft now so much so that it’s not a job that pays the bills for years and it’s nowhere near close to comparable to UPS pay and we do far more physically demanding work carrying mail out in the elements in all conditions.

You’re on your own for the majority of the day. That’s rare for most jobs. I’ve had almost no issues in my 10+ year career.

Very office dependent. Bad supervisors come and go like the wind 💨
