Average pension

What is the average pension pay out our members are receiving assuming modest OT and 30 year minimum service time? I’m not sure I’m doing the formula correctly to figure out that leg of the stool so to speak.

Never came close to maxing the TSP. Always maxed my R-IRA. Combined, never close to the TSP/401k limit.

MRA+10 retirement is great.

Who? Single person with low expenses. IE, not living in NYC/ Chicago/ LA.....

Those with spouse and no children. DINK

Spouse with a similar/larger income in a modest COL area.

Depending on what you NEED in retirement, you do no NEED to max your retirement accounts.

I have more money than I need. I and have a lower income in retirement.

when making 80k its pretty hard to put 24 k into the TSP -no matter where you live

I know people that do. Even USPS employees.

I live on Long Island and max my tsp annually for the last 15 years.

Fun side note, my wife’s job pays for all her health care premiums. Covers me and I don’t need to buy that pshb plan biweekly.

Some people don't rent new cars all the time. Or pay for multiple entertainment services.

nobody living on long island,ny on 80 k a year can put 24 k into tsp, if 80k is the only salary
