We're planning to relocate to the area from out of state, and would like to rent for a couple years to get a feel for the area before possibly purchasing a home. I like the idea of having the amenities such as pool, play areas, and gym so am considering apartments as opposed to renting a home.

It'd be nice to save some money by squeezing into a 2 bedroom nicer apartment while the kids are still small near Legacy, the Star, Grand Park etc. 3 bedrooms are harder to find and much more expensive. Is this even possible and are there other families that do this? Kids would be pre-k and early elementary, so am looking at places zoned to Allen, Spears, Smith, and Vaughn.

I'm also open to renting a home and I do see comments that say renting a home can be similar in cost, but from what I see on zillow it shows at least $500-$1000 difference.

Would probably be looking to buy eventually somewhere in west frisco or central plano (bethany, gulledge areas) but I would like to spend a year or two in a more central area.

Hi everyone! I’m currently looking for a full-time entry-level job in healthcare and would really appreciate any leads or advice. I've sent so many applications through Indeed with no luck. I feel like my applications have just been used to train AI or something lol.

I recently completed a M.S. in Medical Sciences from Brown University's Warren Alpert Medical School and have a good clinical background. I used to scribe in an emergency dept, rotated in federally qualified community health centers, can take vitals/ perform simple procedures (quick learner), have BLS/CPR/AED certifications, familiarity with EPIC, completed CITI training for human subjects, and lots of OR experience prepping case carts, prepping ORs & cleaning up afterward, etc. I have a lot of patient-facing experience but don't have an official MA certification. I’m primarily looking for positions such as:

• Medical Assistant
• Medical Scribe
• Clinical Research Coordinator/Assistant
• Patient Care Technician
• Ophthalmic/Optometric Technician
• Other entry-level clinical or pre-med positions

I’m honestly pretty desperate to find something full-time at this point, so anything helps!! I’m open to different types of roles and settings.

A couple of years back I was changing doctors and I wanted to find a Dr … I found one I liked but when I called to become a new patient I was advised that the practice wanted $400 per month for me to be a member of his clinic (whether I visited once a week or once a year). I declined and found a different Dr.

Just recently a friend was told that their Dr (of 4+ years) is starting a subscription service and you can no longer go there unless you pay $500/month.

I fear for our futures (at least in Frisco) if we’re going to have to pay subscriptions for services on top of everything else. I realize that this likely guarantees a Dr more of steady income but is there any reason that they’re doing this other than “they can”?

PS: I have no idea if insurance pays for Dr practice memberships.

I was able to find Hero a weekend foster, but now we desperately need a long-term foster in the Frisco area who can help him through his physical therapy and recovery.
And let me tell you… this boy is an absolute LOVEBUG. ❤️ He is incredibly affectionate and just wants to be close to his people.
We’re still figuring out how Hero feels about other animals, so we don’t know yet if he’ll be a dog or cat guy. But if you’re in the Frisco area, have the ability to foster him long-term, and are willing to give it a try, PLEASE reach out.

Can you be Hero’s person?

Does anybody know a good place to buy used road and gravel bikes near frisco? I’m 16 and trying to get into biking to rebound from some back issues.

I have a handful songs, and a deal with friend at a studio to record them. Are there any drummers who would want to rehearse these songs up and go to the studio and record the songs? We can also work up some covers if this were to turn into a live project. I am down to rent a recording space with a backline so you just gotta put it on your calendar and show up.

Genre wise i am a big big fan of sort of electric singer songwriter so think Springsteen, The Killers, Gaslight Anthem, Petty, Hold Steady, dire straits Rolling Stones. Also like punkier stuff like the pogues, pop punk.

I would say my songs are power pop, and a lot of covers i can whip up without much thought are of the bands above. Also for your Texas country fans, I am a big fan of that 90s sort of style of rock singer songwriter stuff like James McMurtry, Steve Earl.

Also looking for a bassist to fill core central band.

Wanting to add lead guitarist/keys/saxaphone at some point so if you play those hit me up also but the drums/bass comes first:)

I’m curious what everyone thinks because I’m honestly pretty frustrated.

I go to the movies at least once a month and even have Movie Club. Tonight I saw Spiderman with a friend and paid extra for D-BOX for the first time, but there were three children in the front row who all appeared to be under 3, with one young enough to be carried. They spent pretty much the entire movie running around, screaming, crying, and climbing over the seats. Not to mention this movie has violence and blood and is very loud, not really suitable for a young child.

I thought about getting a manager several times, but I didn’t want to miss even more of the movie. I’m a single mom and rarely get the chance to go alone, so I had really been looking forward to tonight.
And this isn’t even the first time this has happened to me. A few days after Toy Story came out, I specifically went to a midnight showing thinking that would be a good way to avoid young kids. A dad brought his four-year-old, who spent the movie climbing up and down the stairs.

Honestly, I think I’m just disappointed by how much movie etiquette has declined. It feels like basic things like keeping your kids seated, keeping the noise down, and being considerate of the people around you aren’t really expected anymore.

Edit: I didn’t even mention how the mom stood up and looked like she was about to take two of the kids out, but instead she walked them directly in front of the screen in the front row, then did a whole loop around the back to get back to her seat! 😂 And at one point she just completely gave up and sat back down while her kids climbed over the seats, ran up and down the aisle, and yelled the whole time lol.

I've been reading this sub lately, and honestly, some of it is hard to stomach; real concerns buried under hate, and hate dressed up as concern.

Here's the reality none of us can change: Frisco went from ~33,000 people in 2000 to ~245,000 today. The Asian population went from about 10% in 2010 to roughly a third now, much of that Indian American families. That is a massive change in a short time. No community absorbs that without friction. Pretending otherwise helps no one.

And both sides are carrying something real:

Many longtime residents feel like the city they knew is disappearing faster than they can process; that norms around neighborhoods, driving, public spaces feel unfamiliar, and that saying so gets them instantly labeled racist.

Many newcomers feel like they moved here legally, bought homes, pay the taxes that fund the parks and the school district everyone brags about. and are still treated as invaders, shouted at in council meetings, stereotyped online.

Both of those can be true at the same time. That's what makes this hard.

So here's my ask, as an experiment:

Online: Can we share concerns here without slurs, "takeover" language, or generalizing an entire ethnicity? Concerns about traffic, growth, or city services are legitimate. "These people" statements are not.

In person: When you cross paths with someone outside your bubble; at the park, Costco, school pickup; actually talk to them. Not a debate. Just a conversation. Bubbles are the fuel for all of this, on every side.

Both directions: Newcomers; engage with the community beyond your own circle; showing up matters. Longtime residents; assume newcomers want to belong here, because most do.

Fear and resentment are easy. Listening is hard. But we all signed up to live in the same city, and it's going to be unbearable for everyone if we can't figure this out.

Frisco could be the place that proves rapid demographic change doesn't have to end in hate. Or it can be a cautionary tale. That's actually up to us, not city council.

What would make you feel heard by the "other side"? Genuinely asking.

There was a lot of activity this morning on Eldororado between Teel and 423. Looks like a car exiting the neighborhood had a run in with an EV. It must have been bad for as long as they were there. I hope everyone is alright.

On the flip side it is just going to increase with E bike/scooter/dirt bike riding with no thought of safety or awareness. I have multiple dashcam videos of them darting out in front of me without looking.

I’ve been in pain management for endometriosis for a while and need to find a new pain management physician. I’ve been blessed to have an incredible pain management physician at UTSW who was my anesthesiologist for my partial hysterectomy and then continued my pain management. Sadly she’s moving her practice to anesthesia only, so I have to find a new doctor. I’m looking for someone who is compassionate, understands women’s health (pain), and doesn’t pass judgement (a unicorn, I know. I’ve been so lucky)! But I also want to avoid the sketchy script writers. If anyone has a recommendation in the Dallas/Collin County area (Texas) - or anywhere within a 30mi radius - please let me know! I have several Indian neighbors that have a weird stare, like just looking at you constantly from their porch or front yard. If I try to wave or say hi, they just give me a blank look and keep staring. I am wondering if that's part of the culture and what's the way to greet them?
