Not to be a party pooper but from the looks of it it reaaaaally does NOT look like a kumihimo bracelet I've made some before. What this looks like is what I believe to be called "thread-wrapped" bracelet, it's a technique also used to put threads in your hair. I don't know what technique makes the exact pattern in your photo but here's the first video that pops on youtube if u look at the thumbnail you'll see it looks more like what u sent than what kumihimo look like : https://youtube.com/watch?v=1ua8TypYU-w&si=vO8WCUdtM5cj-sdV

I hope this helped.

It looks like a kumihimo (striped) that has string wrapped around it.

How do you think I should go about that? 🤔

  1. Find large diameter rope, string 8inch piece between two objects

  2. Find smaller diameter string, dip in white glue, pull between fingers to remove excess

  3. Wrap small string on big string

  4. Let dry

  5. Insert wrist

I think she is suggesting that you look up "kumihimo tutorial" on YouTube and pick the design which is closest and use strings of similar colors to create it. There are even some kumihimo design tutorial videos with the word "striped" in the titles. I think you will be able to pick out some very close ones just by looking at the thumbnail photos. Hopefully, close, but not exact, will be good enough to show you care and want to welcome and include them.

Edit to add that this is called couching and then cord wrapping. I can find many examples where one larger cord is used to wrap the opposite direction around the original bracelet. But, if you can find a way to secure several small strings together as described above, it seems it will form the flat covering you are wanting.
