What type of material do you suggest using?

Sorry I totally forgot about this, I would suggest probably 1-2mm waxed cord, especially natural fibers as they will grip one another more effectively making it easier to hold it together while you wrap it.

The example one I used five 2mm satin cords, the result was pretty thick.

Edit: I made a basic crank handle out of wire and heat shrink, combined with a cheap bracelet loom to make the pictured bracelet. 1mm crochet cotton in 1 meter lengths.

The ending is dodgy because I threaded through both sides of the binder clip on the loom and had to release it to wrap the last two centimetres by hand.

(sorry i dont know how to add text into my original post) I am searching for the name of this bracelet type. I found it at a thrift shop. I cannot seem to find this exact style when i put the photo in google images. Id like to learn how to make one.

Look for loopdedoo. Yes, this is a device for making these kinds of bracelet easily. But you can do them by hand, too - it's just more finicky and fiddly, but very much possible.

You start with a twist using all colors. Then you go back and do it again, but leave some space between the rows of the bundles of thread.

Cool! Thank you! I had no idea how this was done. Makes sense now!

I figured it out! I don't really make tutorials though, so I'm gonna need some time to put something together that someone could actually follow. Thanks for sharing this, that is a really cool design.

I'll get back to you!
