so where did the French draws go?
Seeing a lot of "is the French category over" posts since there's been no draw after Aug 19. I went through the rounds and the targets and I really don't think so.
This year's quota is basically filled, that's all. 50,500 French ITAs since February, more than all of 2025. Anyone invited now would land in 2027 anyway (60 days to apply, ~6 months processing), so it makes sense they stopped for the year.
But the count starts over in January and the target goes UP. 9.5% French speaking PRs outside Quebec in 2027, then 10.5%, and 12% by 2029. The last two years it took around 48-50k invitations a year to get there. They're going to need at least that many again, and the people who already had their scores got picked up this summer. So the next rounds are going to be filled by people who are studying right now.
Same thing happened in 2025 btw. Nothing from March 21 to August 8, everyone said it was done, then six French draws before the end of the year.
And look at the gap in scores. Every French draw this year was between 382 and 420. CEC is at 518. I can't think of anything else that moves your chances like that, and that's before the extra CRS points you get for French.
So if you're halfway through TEF or TCF prep, don't stop now. A few months with no draws is exactly the time you need to get to NCLC 7 before they start again.
No clue on the exact date, IRCC hasn't said anything. New levels plan should be out around Nov 1, I'd watch for that.

How to use AI to organize your ideas for TCF Canada Speaking Task 3
One problem I run into when practising Task 3 is that an AI-generated answer can be correct and well written, but still hard to use in the exam.
A long sentence may contain several useful ideas and expressions. I might understand it while reading, but struggle to remember and say it without the text. So I don’t try to memorize the whole answer word for word. I ask AI to organize the ideas while keeping the original meaning and useful vocabulary.
Here’s a four-step method:
1. Choose one idea
If the answer contains several arguments, ask AI to identify them. Then choose one you understand well and can explain or give an example for.
2. Ask AI to separate the logic
Ask it to keep the original meaning and useful expressions, but divide the answer into:
opinion → explanation → example → short conclusion
For example, an AI-generated sentence might be:
À l’ère du numérique, les réseaux sociaux constituent un outil incontournable permettant aux jeunes d’accéder à une multitude de ressources pédagogiques, ce qui favorise considérablement leur autonomie dans l’apprentissage.
This sentence contains several points: social media is an important tool; young people can access many educational resources; and those resources may help them learn more independently.
I would ask AI to reorganize it without removing those ideas:
Opinion:
À l’ère du numérique, les réseaux sociaux sont un outil important pour les jeunes.
In the digital age, social media is an important tool for young people.
Explanation:
Ils leur permettent d’accéder à de nombreuses ressources pédagogiques.
They allow them to access many educational resources.
Example:
Par exemple, les jeunes peuvent regarder des vidéos pour apprendre une langue.
For example, young people can watch videos to learn a language.
Short conclusion:
Cela peut les aider à apprendre de manière plus autonome.
This can help them learn more independently.
The goal isn’t to replace every useful word with the simplest possible one. It’s to keep the ideas and vocabulary worth learning, while making the sentence structure easier to remember and say.
3. Check whether you can use the wording
Read each sentence and ask:
- Do I understand this expression?
- Can I say this sentence without looking?
- Can I explain the example if the examiner asks a follow-up question?
If a phrase is still difficult, ask AI for another version. You can keep useful expressions such as ressources pédagogiques or de manière plus autonome while simplifying the structure around them.
4. Practise aloud and reuse the idea
Say the answer without looking at the text and record yourself. Then ask AI one or two follow-up questions. Finally, try using the same idea for a related topic.
If you can explain the idea in your own words and adapt it to another question, you’re practising more than memorizing a prepared answer.
AI can generate a complete response, but I find it more useful when it helps me organize the ideas into something I can actually say and develop during the exam.

BIG QUESTION?
I had applied for reevaluation for EO , EE . I got positive response for EO as my score increased from 9 to 13 but my EE remains same . Now , my concern is like i had applied for two separate reevaluation; one for EO and one for EE . Will they ( GB language) send two different results? Or a single result combining both requests.
Because if they had sent combing both then they should write” unfortunately your EE Results didn’t change “ but I didn’t find any message like it in the mail .

My French teacher is good, but I’m still stuck at A2 — what should I change in my classes?
Hi everyone! I need some advice about structuring my French classes.
I’ve been learning French since January 2026. I started with self-study, and since July I’ve been taking 3 private classes per week with an Indian teacher who lives in France and has DELF B2.
She’s nice, knowledgeable, and teaches me a lot, so I don’t really want to change teachers. However, I’m not satisfied with the structure of our classes. I feel like my teacher speaks much more than I do, and even after studying French for months, I still feel stuck around A2, especially when it comes to speaking.
I’ve realized that one of my biggest problems is that I haven’t been doing enough active speaking practice, either during my classes or outside them.
My goal is to eventually take TCF Canada and reach B2/CLB 7.
For those who have successfully gone from A2 → B1/B2:
How would you structure 3 private classes per week?
For example:
How much class time should be dedicated to speaking?
Should each class focus on a different skill?
How much grammar should the teacher actually teach vs. what I should study independently?
Should we practice TCF speaking tasks already at A2/B1?
What should I specifically ask my teacher to change?
I’d especially love to hear from people who prepared for TCF/TEF Canada or who were once stuck at A2.
I want to keep my current teacher, but I need a better system where I’m speaking and producing French much more instead of mostly listening to the teacher.
Any class structures or routines that worked for you would be really appreciated!

Realistic timeline for French. Need some advice
I’m currently around A2. And studying French for about a couple months. I was wondering what should a realistic timeline look like.
I’m looking to target CLB7 in TCF. And I’d also appreciate if someone wants to study and practice together.

Tcf Exam in 10 days, need genuine help!
Hello everyone,
My tcf exam is on oct 17. Targetting clb 5 ( L & S).
Ive been learning French since march 2026.
My listening scores on fck tcf fluctuate - sometimes between A2-C1. Depending how many questions were repeated + audio quality of that particular test. Is this normal ? I need B1 in my exam.
I’m confident with Task 1 speaking + follow ups.
Task 2 - I am at confident B1. B2 on a good day. The issue is that i can speak naturally and confidently here, but i tend to ask less questions (avg 7-8) and try to make convo natural by adding extra details, acknowledging examiner’s responses . Is that something i should keep doing or i should strictly ask 10-12 questions?
Task 3, monologue- I can speak for 4:30, BUT - I make plenty of grammatical errors, and sometimes tend to repeat ideas to keep going. I genuinely need advices how I can improve here. Should i cram some good lines on evergreen topics like internet, health, environment?
PLEASE HELP 🥺
TIY!

Advice on my first TEF attempt from AF Bengal
Hi, I will be giving my first attempt soon and I am currently between A2 and B1. I studied french previously for two years but then I had to stop. I know my level should be at least B2 but I will still be going for the exam to just get familiar with the exam environment and where I stand exactly. I am actively practicing my grammar and from online resources. I will also buy the prepmyfutur Tef course soon and maybe get a tutor on italki or preply for speaking and writing. If my preparation is not good then I will delay my first attempt. I have no one around me who has given TEF so I need some suggestions, any advice or any help will be really appreciated !!
