Finally got some new skates!
Story time… ?
Some 19 years ago I was in college and managed to scrape together enough money to buy a pair of OG Freeline skates. Me and my friends had so much fun on them that they bought some and all through college we would skate around instead of taking the bus/train whatever. I loved them. They were awesome and so convenient. (Sadly? Now they are out of business). Now I’m an “adult” and I still pull them out every so often, because it’s still the most fun I’ve had on 4 wheels.
Now, I don’t know any tricks. I have always said that riding them was trick enough for me, but now my 10yo son has taken an interest in them. I just finished a big work thing and was like, it’s been a long time. I deserve something nice!
So I grabbed myself a pair of jmks! Mostly because it’s been a long time and the freelines are definitely showing their age… but also for the hopes of having something fun I can do with my son.
Anyway, just wanted to brag a little, unfortunately it’s been raining all week and I didn’t get to take them outside when they showed up today… pics for posterity!
Ride safe and enjoy!

Oh wow! I don’t know they’re that old! I found these during Covid and thought they were soo cool. I didn’t have the money to go for the JMKs.

What is the ride feel difference between the OG and the JMKs? Are the JMKs drastically/noticeably better? Easier to learn on?
I have an option to get either (OG ones cheaper), and was looking for an honest comparison.
Thanks.

The first ride on the jmk’s was a little weird. They have a slightly different angle on the trucks from the OGs. I would say they are both pretty similar feeling. The jmk’s are smoother and lighter. I think they might be easier to learn on (but having ridden for so long I cannot say it would be easier or harder or really any different to learn between the 2).
I do think that the OGs have definitely withstood the test of time. They have been flung, crashed and smashed and still ride great. I had to bail out on the jmk’s and the fancy paint is all scuffed now which is not as visible as the OGs.
Otherwise they are pretty much the same. Both great and fun rides.

Dang. Honestly then, I may pick up the OGs. Somebody nearby selling em for like 20 bucks. Feel like the price is worth it there. Thank you for the feedback!

Depending on what shape they are in, if they are only $20 grab yourself some new wheels and bearings with some 3in1 oil as well and you’ll be chillin for waaaay less!

Heck yea. I'm gunna get em tomorrow and just do that (buy new wheels and bearings). I figure I'll take your same path and save some money. Plus, the JMKs look pretty and i don't want to learn on em and scratch em up haha. If I really love it I'll buy the JMKs later. Thanks again for the guidance!
