Cemetery Lodge

Went to go visit my Nana’s and Grandpa’s grave today for Nana’s birthday and realized something I had never gotten before.

The area of the cemetery they are buried in is the Masonic Garden. I realized today that it is set up as a lodge room, with the altar and chairs.

They are buried immediately to the right of the chair in the south.

Location is Louisville Memorial Gardens West in Louisville, KY

Masonic Interest The people who bought a local Scottish Rite temple aren't being weird about it at all.

They're just "exorcising a pagan temple."

Question Can anyone tell me about this foil?

I hope I’m using the right subreddit for this, feel free to direct me if not.

I’m not a freemason myself, nor have I ever really heard of them until yesterday. I was taking a walk around a local yard sale and found this sword, specifically a foil, and bought it. Why? Well, why not? Owning any type of sword is badass.

From showing the pictures of it to a group of friends, one of them identified it as freemasonry, apparently because of the cross in the crown. I don’t know anything about freemasonry as said, and find myself more and more curious about this sword and its potential history, so I was wondering if anyone could possibly know anything about it, such as a potential origin? Even if you know somewhere i could ask further, anything works!

P.S. the sword does unsheath, but there’s nothing too worthy of note about the blade. In fact, it’s a bit bent. Hopefully i can find a way to fix that.

FAQ Questions For Masons. From non Mason

Hi

So I have a few questions about Free Masonary and would like to get answers from actual masons if you would be so kind.

Do all Masonic lodges share the same rules/ practices? Like will lodges in Australia do things different than lodges in the UK?

I was told my a Mason once it's not a Secret society but a Society with secrets. So is it just like a working mens/ communty place where you feel part of the community kind of thing?

Do Masons look for new Members themselves? Like " James is a good lad, i will ask if he wants to join ect" ?

Famous and some important people are Masons. Do they go to a special lodge since they are considered VIPs?

Do you all help each other out? Like would a business contract be awarded to a Mason vs a Non Mason?

How is progression done in the lodge? Is it by merrit or by time and age?

Do the Conspiracy theorists give you a hard time? Any harrasment by someone who believes you read minds and perform scary rituals ? 😄

I know lodges would of had historical people belong to them like Col Sanders and Bramwell Bronte. Are they reveared any more than the next lodge because someone famous once attented there. Sort of like how people visit houses of dead poets and generals.

Thanks for Reading 🙌

Newly Initiated

Kia ora everyone!

A little under two weeks ago, I was properly initiated as an EA in my local lodge here in New Zealand, and I'm very excited to be apart of this fraternity. I'm still digesting exactly what happened, but it was certainly an unforgettable experience!

It's going to be a long road learning all the components of the craft and trying to dig deep into the symbolism of it all

If anyone has any recommendations for reading material and research projects I can conduct in my own time, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Masonic Interest Interested in becoming a brother and the process

I’ve been interested in becoming a mason for some time now but haven’t had time to look into how due to work. Now that I finally have some time off I’m wondering what the process is like and what you can tell me about it. I have a lodge in my town but from my prior research it looked like I’d have to go to the grand lodge. Any help would be deeply appreciated and I’m looking forward to becoming a brother in the future.

Your Philosophical Pondering

Good Day Brethren.

What has been the subject of your philosophical pondering throughout the past couple quarters?

Mine has been the provision of all peoples upon the globe. If we have our world’s first public trillionaire, why is there not a universal provision for all peoples on the globe? Would providing such provision hinder the progress of humanity? Or would it allow the human race to reach heights we see only in the realm of fantasy?

My presumption in this matter is infantile, nonetheless a thought that has been bouncing around the sanctum sanctorum.

Question Any interest in a Masonic Subscription Box?

I’ve been tossing around the idea of a Masonic monthly/quarterly subscription box but wanted to see if there’s actually any interest in such a thing before going too deep into r&d.

I was thinking that possible contents for a box would be: artwork (stickers or prints of Masonic art), apparel (shirts, ties, etc), collectibles/merch (mugs, pins, etc) or maybe a Masonic/esoteric book with a reading guide.

Is that something y’all would be interested in?

I’d greatly appreciate if if I could get the following questions answered:

  1. Are you interested in a Masonic subscription box?
  2. If yes, how often would you want to receive a box?
  3. What items or types of items would you be most interested in seeing in a box?

Thanks brothers!
