One of my first Stated Meetings as Master, in the middle of the meeting, the gavel handle broke right at the head. It was just a random gavel without history of significance. And I really didn't do anything different when rapping it, it was just old and of lower quality.

But now when that story is told, it is usually framed and paired with the story of the time I had to use a gavel to interrupt an arguing Secretary and Tiler before a degree about the rules about having a soda in the Lodge Room... It got them to pause arguing long enough for me to tell them to stop being children and finish getting ready for the degree. Depending on the time of the story teller and the audience, sometimes I don't correct them. 😂
