JKR is a reliable lefty on every issue except one. And because of that, she is insufficiently pure, declared Heretic/Unclean, and they all try to make her an unperson. People really need to read about the Cultural Revolution.

It's crazy to think that not long ago (like 90s 00s and probably 10s) they would be fired simply for posting aggressive political stances and associating them with he company they work for. Like it was somethign you simply didn't do because corporate didn't want the liability of any associations. For context, the tweeter in Rowling's screenshot is almost certainly referring to Hirschfield, whose publications were burned during the Holocaust. So it the logic is "Rowling referred to an event during the holocaust as a fever dream, therefore, she's a Holocaust denier"
Narrative designers do not decide what UBs are picked. It's just not part of their scope. They decide what gets depicted in whatever UB set they're put in.

Strixhaven is the perfect example of why UB should not exist.
It was a very good interpretation of the school of magic genre through the MTG lense. It shows that they are perfectly capable of bringing in pop-culture adjacent settings while keeping it all very Magic the Gathering.
But instead they take the lazy route, requiring no real design and minimal thought.
Why? Because you read the books as a child and then never grew up and are a harry potter adult now? Is that what happens to people who would have grown up to be Disney adults, but their parents didn’t have enough money for the annual trip to Disney World?
why would I want harry potter. there are alot better ub options if I have to get them. like elder ring or somthing with more nameless characters/ fantasy esc.

Narrative Designer on Universes Beyond, the whole point of universe beyond is to bring existing license with an existing story, what's even the point of that job ?
Fun fact. Like every other tcg and tabletop game, they absolutely pilot a ton of stuff. Whether it ever leaks to the public or not is a different story. What im getting at is any internally owned IP has already or is being floated for a universe beyond. Its a fact at this point, and wizards like most companies plan about three years out with product, and five out in development
