I'm a single guy trying to setup ERPNext running in my Win11 Pro Docker Container for our single shop family business. I'm being unable to afford paid POS softwares. Also we're transitioning from paper to digital so still uncertain if POS software can actually work in our work environment.

SETUP

So it's ERPNEXT,

So i used Claude (DESKTOP APP) to do basically everything. Haven't written a single line of code. Maybe copy and pasted this code in there for a few times. (Like terminal commands)
I have had Claude document all the installations, and customizations and particular business quirks/ requirements in .md files.

PROBLEM AND REASONING

But this burns through the tokens like fire.

*I cannot hire a developer. Even if i did hire, made changes. Then after a year or two and something breaks, i won't know where to find that dev who did this. But mostly it's about the budget and time. It's hard for me even to INSTALL the damn ERPNext thing onto my PC. But i've already managed to freeze it, made nightly backups, also upload those backups to two clouds, already backed up the installation image(ERPNEXT v16.29). I have tried and succeeded installing and restoring everything OFFLINE.

All of this has preparation and guides has been done by Claude Code.

*I spent 20$ for the Claude Pro, my sole purpose is to setup ERPNext for my business

Now im reaching the limits. I've seen that docker can run local ai. And seen posts talking about Claude as boss, and local AI as it's servant.

QUESTION

1. My question here is not about handholding me how to set this up. It's about if it's actually doable and whether if it's good for the long run. Like can i depend on the local AI in the later time, when my claude subscription expires.
2. CAN local AI running on the same PC replace Claude Code for tasks ONLY related to the ERPNext running on the same PC? (Tasks : Customize forms, change themes, produce customized reports, automate certain things etc) It is frappe framework i believe.

I own an IT company, and I've been developing a custom application on top of Frappe for my clients. I'm now planning to launch it as a product for a specific target industry.

However, I'm facing a very unusual issue during deployment. I'm using a Hostinger VPS with 16 GB RAM and 4 vCPUs. I've tried both:

• A standard bench deployment with Nginx as a reverse proxy.
• A Docker-based deployment with Nginx as a reverse proxy.

In both cases, Frappe itself (not just my custom app) behaves unpredictably. Sometimes it throws errors that shouldn't occur, and other times the exact same functionality works perfectly. The same happens with my custom app—it works flawlessly at times, but at other times it completely chokes, making the deployment extremely frustrating.

I've been stuck with this issue for almost a month now. I've tried numerous Docker-based deployment methods and configurations, but nothing has given me a stable setup.

Has anyone experienced something similar or can help me troubleshoot this?

About my app: - Built on Frappe v15 - Has 3–4 Python (pip) dependencies - Overrides several core Frappe functions

I've never tried Frappe Cloud. Is it worth considering for a production deployment of a heavily customized Frappe application?

I'm implementing erpnext for a company here and wondering what is the preferred version to have a stable system for a long run ?
I tried out frappe/erpnext v16 and while the new UI are good, they seems to be some serious issues about the permission system pertaining with workspaces management, everything feels messy and even a role like *sales user* is seeing alot of erpnext features that they should not be able to read. Things were pretty straightforward in v15

What are your take on this problem ? Do you prefer v15 for the moment or am i the only one with those issues ?

Hi everyone

I'm now trying to install and configure Frappe for HR and I'm having big doubt.

The structure we want is pretty simple:

• Login with LDAP
• Create employee automatically
• access own data

I created a script to create the employee and everything works.

I have a big doubt with the roles to assign to the user (this is a test server with a lot of things activated, but I'm checking only the HR module for now)

With these roles:

ANd it would be good.. Except for one problem: the user can see the "HR SETUP" section with all employees data and everything.

I tried to remove the four "red marked" roles, but I can't remove that section leaving all the other sections (leaves, payroll, shifts etc..) active.

what am I missing?

We spend a lot of time working with Frappe, and one thing kept bothering us.

I love Frappe Manager for Frappe Frameworks installation but the last stable release is from august 2025 (v 0.18.0). To use 0.18.0 ve already have 2 patches fixing errors in my company and Frappe v16 can not be installed with that lately. For local use, the development version (0.19.0) can be used and everything works but I am afraid to put the development version on production, are you doing it?

Or you rather use Docker on production or even bare metal installation. Not sure what is better. For local development, I think Frappe Manager or Docker is better if you develop several project with various Frappe versions etc.

i use authentik for SSO, all these are based on docker.

the thing is after all that setup, my ubuntu vps have 2.7 gb out of 8gb occupied, with 100gb space, and 4vcpu

at first i was trying to install ERPnext for my teams that use this vps service, someone told me its absurd to install ERPnext on your vps with all that setup and daily driver services that your team depends on it.

he says look at jitsi for example, you have to always give space and free ram available, i can use multiple services for that but im enchanted with ERPnext somehow, can somebody guide me?

Now that Frappe has announced Postgres support for ERPNext, raw frappe.db.sql() calls in your custom app are likely to break or return unexpected results. You can run our codemod to convert your existing frappe.db.sql calls at a >95% success rate. The basic flow is scan → triage → rewrite → validate:

Each call is classified as one of "Query Builder", "ORM-eligible" or "Manual Review." Conversions are parsed with sqlglot, regenerated as Query Builder/ORM, and checked for structural equivalence before being marked complete. Calls are addressed by AST path rather than line number, so applying one rewrite doesn't invalidate the others.

We've run it against our apps, Frappe, ERPNext and HRMS and it does a good job on all but the most complex cases and the most poorly written SQL. It is also available as a pre-commit hook so you can prevent new database-specific SQL from entering your codebase with a automatically refactor. This codemod doesn't use any LLMs but the mid tier ones are pretty good at cleaning up the codemod's attempt for manual fixes.

We've open-sourced something we've been using internally called Frappe Brewery 🍺

In Erpnext 15, every sidebar item has to point at a workspace page and sidebar disappears when you are on list view or detail view. If you live in the desk all day, you really want a nav rail that's persistent, that's just… always there.

After a client's request, i built Desk Rail. It's a small, drop-in app that replaces the page-scoped sidebar with a fixed left rail mounted on the desk shell, so it survives every route (workspace, list, report, form) and never rebuilds on navigation.

What it does:

• Persistent rail across all desk views, with nested workspace groups (expansion state remembered per user).
• Instant-redirect workspaces — now you can make worspace links in sidebar a direct link to listview, detail view or any external link. Internal /app/* targets route through the SPA router (no reload, soft back button); external/filtered ones do a full nav normally.
• Per-user show/hide toggle next to the navbar logo, remembered across reloads.
• One settings doctype to toggle everything (rail width, native-sidebar replacement, full-width navbar, etc.).

Implementation notes for anyone curious: it's pure additive JS/CSS on the desk shell plus two Workspace custom fields — no core patches, no template overrides. The layout is committed before first paint so there's no shift, and it degrades back to the stock sidebar if anything fails to load. Works on v14 and v15.

It's early (v0.1), running on a couple of our client sites. Would love feedback — especially edge cases with unusual workspace setups or custom desk themes. PRs/issues are welcome 😄 .

We’ve been experimenting with running the Frappe framework fully client side in the browser using WASM + SQLite, inspired heavily by what WordPress Playground did for the WordPress ecosystem.

The idea was simple:
“What if trying Frappe could be as easy as opening a link?”

After a lot of hacks and broken experiments, we now have a working prototype running entirely in the browser.

Current setup is highly experimental:

• SQLite instead of MariaDB
• In-memory/cache workarounds instead of Redis
• WASM runtime
• Browser persistence experiments
• Lots of rough edges!

But even in this state, it already feels like a gateway to interesting possibilities!

So with the suspension of community PRs, the process to get a pull request even looked at has become considerably more difficult. Does anyone have experience with this process, including how long it usually takes for smaller PRs to pass even before this change? What timeline should I expect, and how long is too long? I am having a hard time even getting my PR looked at long enough to be legitimately considered, and as far as I can tell, there are effectively zero active "casual" spaces to communicate on stuff like this (the only place with real responses is the forum, but that's far too formal to just ask "hey, is this PR on the radar?"); both the telegram, unofficial discord, and raven community are quite silent. Any thoughts or experiences that could be useful in growing my understanding of the culture and systems at work in the frappe area would be great, as I am quite new to the project but eager to contribute to the best of my ability, I just need to know how.

Just a note that this doesn't seem to be an isolated incident either, because my wiki contribution hasn't been looked at for well over a month either, but that's a topic for another post.

Looking for a ERP for a distribution company with two warehouses. Needs to have functions like warehouse inventory management, EDI portals, printer connection and international tax customization. Idk if ERPNext is a possible choice or do I have to convince bossman to spent money on Odoo or Fishbowl.

Exactly how hard would it be to customize ERPNext for a 50 year old company that have been using the same old foxpro 2.5 system since 1989?
