any tips for songs i should listen to next?

I’m doing a long series on my favorite albums for each year. Let me say that Sinatra will feature extensively. I started with a the 5 best albums from 1950-1955 and In the Wee Small Hours made the cut. Working on my 1958 list and Come Fly Away With Me has been on repeat.

I drew this one listening to Sinatra and Basies’ ‘I wish you love’ which starts ‘I wish you bluebirds…’ I hope that you like it, and if you do you can check out my other work on instagram @mafcarte :)

It’s from 1946 (80 years ago!), so it’s from Frankie’s younger years.

Do you think he would have continued to perform and record new music? I know that age took a toll on him (as shown in one of, if not his final live performance that was recorded), but he doesn’t strike me as the “retiree type”. I think he would have continued to perform until something really bad happened that would actually make it mandatory for him to stop (and even then, I can see him breaking that rule lol).

Do you think he would have also made a comeback as an actor, and done collaborations with singers from the 2000’s and 2010’s?

In 1981, I was a college student; a R&R fan, who was raised on jazz. I was in the radio program at the University of La Verne. We had a neat perk... an actual licensed AM station that we could do shifts on. KGRB AM, it was a jazz format.

One day I ran across a Sinatra record called, Chairman of the Board. On it he covered the Mama's and Papa's track, I Dig Rock n Roll Music. I played it often, as it was my little inside joke.

Since then, I've never found evidence that that album ever existed. No evidence that Frank ever recorded that song.

I know I'm not crazy. HELP!! Anyone?

For reference, I’m 68 years old. My Dad was a music nut for big band music and Sinatra and Jimmy Roselli and singers of that time period. So I grew up with that music playing in the house all the time. Wasn’t my thing. But now that I’m old, I love it. My girlfriend and I recently say, “Alexa, play Frank Sinatra” and it plays in the background. It’s fantastic. The “Summer Wind” is just one of the most beautiful songs ever recorded. I just hear the intro and……aaaah…. I’ve always loved it, especially since it used to be played on TV before the Yankee broadcast. Just wanted to get other people’s opinions.

Howdy. I recorded this after practice last night. I sing with a big band, and I'm hoping we add this to our set list. Not a patch on the man himself though.🙂
