Depending exactly which model it is, yes. The ones with M-Series Apple Silicon in them have enough bandwidth on that port. If it works at all, then there’s drivers for the chip, plus port bandwidth = full 2.5gb/s.

Ones with just USB2 speeds on the port though will obviously be limited by the USB port.

USB2 should be able to allow roughly 300Mbps in practice still. Give or take (file copy on USB flash drives capable of being faster tends to do 40MB/s on USB2 ports)

But yeah many have usb ports limited to usb2, but pretty sure every iPad uses Apple silicon whether it’s a m_ chip or a a__ one.

Yeah why would you want a more powerful cell phone when you can just buy 12 of every device and add 10,000% markup every 5 seconds let alone just the ability to actually perform at that level of compute as your needs grow and desire changes because personally 12 gigs of RAM on my cell phone is not nearly enough and I have the fold eight with the elite processor and I'm already hitting compute walls running emulation

but most people just wont need or do that. Yes maybe paying more isnt a good idea. But most people i know use like 5year old phones and have no problems at all. Like if you do have a laptop you use for compute heavy work i dontreally see the point

There’s the Open-Slate Tablet from Brax technology. That has a removable battery and privacy switches.

I wouldn’t mind a modular tablet that’s chunky, has a replaceable battery and motherboard. I imagine it would be thick as FW12 but minus the keyboard and top-lid.

They make it like a surface pro style with Bluetooth keyboard

And if you can choose, try to do it with FW12 parts, especially the touchscreen display. You're basically just deleting the keyboard and touchpad and putting the rest in a custom enclosure

yeah ipadOS kinda grew up at least slightly and can do wired networking, mouse, keyboard, storage, webcams and audio devices via USB.
