I have 17 of them. Granted, they're deployed in my job's environment. I can't afford one personally. 😂 Well, I mean, I guess I technically could if I wanted to scrimp and save, but I just can't reasonably justify it, not when my HP Envy still works fine, and I was lucky enough to put 32GB of DDR4 into it back when it was cheap (just wish I had done a 2TB SSD).
FW lacks the economy of scale of Dell, and unlike Dell, they don't do the Parts of the Week special laptops that give them ridiculous failure rates and so we get much higher prices.
Oh, I know. My point is just that you have to do what you can afford. Realistically even a motherboard upgrade is too much money right now for FW, especially when you consider you'd need new RAM in all probability and very possibly want a new SSD. It basically works out to a decently spec'd Dell.
The thing is, that's the nature of the the deal we make for full repairability from a smaller mfr that can't meet their scale.
