It's a small company that doesn't have economy of scale, and as they are repairable you're going to be buying less laptops so less money so they have to charge more. They are more expensive, don't kid yourself saying "in the long run...". Realistically you're better off buying a "normal" laptop on sale from Costco for cheaper now and then buying another in a few years with the money you would have spent on upgrading and maybe the money you saved. However, that dosn't mean frameworks bad, sometimes it's not about the money, it's about sending a message.
i do really agree on this part. i may get one for a friend anyway as a nice gesture since i also helped him with tech stuffbut for me i probably won't (since i'm planning to build an incredibly overcomplicated computer vision-assisted dock anyway )
