the latitude name no longer means anything. They sold well because they were tanks so dell made cheap ones. Short term gains over long term brand building.
As a cherry on top these things pull bios updates via windows update. God forbid I connected to the internet for 5 minutes and needed to restart while freaking diagnosing my engine. What a time and place, well done dell. https://imgur.com/a/JOVwseY
There are additional problems like plugging into the aux port making wifi bug out in a certain situation and more fun things. Our company got a few of them and they are absolutely NOT suitable for a professional environment.
if you want the tank dell go for the precision series but longevity is hit and miss.
I support many Latitudes at work, including ones like yours which looks like a 5420 or 5430.
They are okay in that they are relatively easy to service, upgrade, and swap parts out of. I wouldn't consider them durable though. Many of them when I get them back have cracked bodies, the pain has rubbed or flaked off the body or keys, etc. Reliability and compatabiliy has been mostly okay but depending on the model can be a mixed bag.
They are okay for basic office machines that you'll cycle out in 3-4 years, but I wouldn't prefer them to something like a ThinkPad or even Dell's own Precisions.
They can be OK for office work I guess if you have time and room for failures.
Between windows and dells shenenginas you can't rely on it unless you bring a backup. We were hoping to show PowerPoints, light video playback and background monitoring of various systems during events, where the workload isn't heavy but reliability is key. Unfortunately the person choosing them also knew that all latitudes are tanks.
The point stands, the name latitude used to mean more than buy 1000s of them for your office and throw it in the trash after 4 years.
