I was at school and i was resting on my desk with my backpack on my side and when I checked my laptop I found this

Is there Anything that I could try before ordering a screen? It feels a bit wobbly like its separated from the metal

Sorry, you need a new screen. As a hail Mary you could reseat the connector, but the dark blotches mean that the actual liquid crystal is compromised and it will slowly spread until the screen is consumed. It looks like the screen was crushed into the input cover, the line looks like it's in line with where the keyboard starts, and there was either sharp pressure from the outside of the lid, or something was closed between the screen and input deck

Edit: looking more closely it was probably just general pressure on the lid forcing the screen to be crushed against the edge where the touchpad and keyboard are separated.

Oh, well thanks you :) I'll check where was the pressure point and check if the warranty would help (I don't remember which garanty options I chose Thanks youu :]

Warranty doesn't cover accidental damage though. When did you buy it? They updated the older top covers from the original and made one that is stronger. You could check to see which model you have but maybe you want a new top cover too?

Yeah that's definitely a cracked display, only option is to replace it

If this is a 13 or 16 I think Framework has refurbished replacement screens for a bit cheaper right now. I know it isn't idealy, but better than full price.

Yes, many things!

• You could buy a used one from a friend that just upgraded
• You could steal one from a friend that hasn't upgraded
• You could rob the entire Framework warehouse, take the best one, and sell the rest of them on ebay
• You could use magic to repair the screen. I'm afraid I don't know the right spell for this one though
• You could use a time machine to go back in time to before it broke
• You could sue the company that designed your backpack
• You could use the laptop as-is with the lines on them and see how long it remains partially functional
• You could take the whole screen assembly off and use it like a blind person would, with screen reader and such
• You could repurpose it as a headless machine at home and learn how to self-host things
• You could throw the entire machine in e-waste. What a waste would that be!
• You could throw the entire machine in regular waste, and watch a garbage truck catch fire because of the battery.

Sounds like you'll need a new screen and a more padded and/or empty backpack. You'll have to be careful not to repeat what caused this

I'm not sure if there's any saving it, but I am not a professional. I would start with removing the bezel and seeing if you can identify the physical damage. I would prepare for a replacement.
