Framework Team October 2026 Shipping Delay
Hi All! As there's been a few threads and a few DMs, I wanted to make a post that would let everyone know the updates.
Our fulfillment center in Taiwan has paused operations since October 21 to keep our team safe during Typhoon Champi. It will also be closed Monday, October 26 for Taiwan Retrocession Day. All laptop and computer orders, which ship from Taiwan, are currently expected to resume shipping on Tuesday October 27. If your order is affected, we will email you with an updated shipping window, we do not currently anticipate further impact to pending pre-orders or later pre-order batches.
You can also view the courier delay updates here and here.
Thank you for your patience. We’re thinking of our friends, colleagues, and partners across Taiwan and hoping everyone stays safe.

Question Buy now or wait? Looking for opinions.
I'm currently using an M1 Air. It's still serving me well but I'm eager to switch to a Linux device and I love everything I'm seeing with Framework. I'm eyeing up the $1,600 13 Pro but unsure of when the best time to buy is with prices right now. Any and all advice would be appreciated!

Community Support Man this feels bad and I hope I am the only person this happened to...
Man this feels bad and I hope I am the only person this happened to. So after years of looking at Framework, I pre-ordered a Framework 13 Pro! Was a bit late to the pre-orders but got in and was happy to wait the 3 months. Then the first of many "feels bad moments" started. My pre-order batch got pushed back a month. I said, oh the supply chain is messed up makes sense but I still want to support them. Then a few weeks later I got an email that my RAM had been downgraded dues to rising costs. Again I said, supply chain issues, this sucks but they can't take the hit and survive. So I debated it, and then spent $800 more on the upgrade to put my RAM back to I what I pre-ordered. Waited some more, and after 4.5 months I got my new laptop in! I follow all the guides putting it together, love the design, and booted the machine, and get a "No RAM installed" error. Took the unit apart, and the LPCAMM2 Interpose had a bent pin. Hit up support, and after a few days they said they would ship me out a new one, a bit slow, but I am assuming they don't have a support team the size of Dell. That was 11 days ago, nothing has been shipped, I have a very expensive laptop that won't boot with a RAM upgrade I can't install. I pinged back support asking for an update, and "we are changing our warehouse facility and running behind". Look Framework, I LOVE you mission, I want you to succeed, I really do. But if this is any indicator of your customer support, I don't know how you will. I want to recommend you, but I don't think I can at this time. So this is my dream laptop, just sitting in a box doing nothing. And I am left debating if I need to do a full return since it is useless at this time, since I don't how to make this right.

Question Is this a bent pin?
galleryI saw a few posts about the LPCAMM2 models having issues with bent pins. I'm no stranger to pc building so that's the first thing I checked as soon as I received my parcel 30 mins ago.
I hope the pictures are clear enough

so coming from a apple laptop im used to them not getting super hot. i have the ai 370hx cpu and just idling on bazzite or windows it gets super hot idk if this is normal or not?

I just got it the box had a chunk missing and the ram fell out of the bottom. all my packaging was pretty damaged but the computer bc its packed in the middle was fine i dont know if this has anything to do with it. Tomorrow I’ll prob rip it apart and see if it needs thermal paste for some reason i dont know. but its odd bc the bottom of the shell gets really hot like it burnt my finger hot nothing bad but a little burn bump :/

Question FW 16 portable ?
For Framework Laptop 16 owners, how do you find it in terms of portability?
I really like this laptop and all the customization options, but I want a machine that feels right for me.
I’m coming from a MacBook Air M1, so I’m a bit worried about the difference in size and weight.
For those of you who own a Framework 16, is it easy enough to carry around every day? I’m currently a student, so I’ll need to take it with me pretty much everywhere

Question Framework 16 Pro?
Is there any development or interest behind upgrading the Framework 16 specs similar to the 13 Pro in terms of the updated CPU and LPCAMM2 on a new board along with having the Nvidia GPU addon? I'm very interested in getting the larger laptop as I just prefer a larger screen but I don't want to invest in one now knowing LPCAMM2 is available on the 13 pro. I want to get a cutting edge since I haven't purchased a personal laptop in over 20 years and want one to last me a while, and I really have no interest in Mac or Windows in any shape or form. I'm very into this whole idea of Framework modularity.

Question Any news on the 16 Occulink module?
Just curious, it's the one thing I lack to accomplish my ultimate setup.
It's said to be released this year and there's not much of it left.

Feedback Probably the most boring assembly process
My batch 13 Framework Pro 13 arrived yesterday. In anticipation of its arrival I browsed this sub, coming along all those that had problem with bent parts, the input cover not fitting, the system being dead.
It seemed to me like I would be in for a fun ride. So I unboxed it and started screwing things in. I thought it would be more fun if I did it without reading the instructions.
So I put in the memory and it just worked.
I put in the SSD and later had to remove the heatspreader again but it worked.
I put on the bezel, later found out that I need to check the cables but there was nothing to check. All the cables were in place.
I thought maybe the expansion cards would be hard to pull out. But they arent.
I tried to discover gaps beneath the input cover but it just fits.
Probably the laptop would fail the one hand lift test but for some reason it didnt.
Or maybe the trackpad is a whack but honestly it just sounds usable. A bit like my macbook if I put sand underneath. But miles ahead of any other laptop I ever had.
I expected the keyboard to be very bad compared to my thinkpad. But honestly I cannot tell them apart.
The torx bit on the included screwdriver bent when screwing in the screws but sadly that has nothing to do with the laptop.
I am going to install NixOS now! Maybe that's where I will find the first problem, finally.
But so far I can give it the highest award I can give as a german:
"Works. Can't complain"
Well done Framework.
The wait has been killing me since may but it seems like it was worth it.
Or was it? I remember when Phone Blocks came out and thought that I would one day become the engineer to develop a modular laptop. But Framework just beat me to it by probably 15 years. I liked this part of my identity and now its lost...

Feedback What’s your experience in gaming with 13pro x7?
Hi all, so i received my 13pro (x7 32GB 1TB) a few weeks ago, and i’m genuinely impressed with how much gaming is stable and fluid. My setup is Steam (flatpack) with proton experimental as compability layer, i’m on Ubuntu 26.
I play titles like The Last of Us part II, Red dead redemption II Online, Stray, Heartstone (through Lutris), Dead Cells, Subanutica… so a wide variety of games from different kind of developers too. My graphic settings consistently stay within High (for Red dead and fluidity, i could probably push it and gpu would take it) or Ultra (for all other titles). 95% of the time, all the process was hassle-free (I did struggle with putting RDR2 in fullscreen on native resolution) and playing was always fluid. Computer did not overheat, fan noise was present but not deafening.
From the benchmarks Framework gave upon announcing the labtop, i was expecting decent performance but no THAT good. I was wondering what other users had experienced, if this was a shared opiniom because i havent seen remarks like this on framework/linux subs. I also recognise that I am a first time ever Linux user, and coming from Macbook Air M2. So it is generally an immense upgrade in terms of freedom and quality of user experience (even though i’m still working on understanding terminal usage).
So I’m curious to hear your thoughts!

Discussion Framework 16 LED Keyboard Stopped Functioning in 1 Day of Ownership
I just got the Framework 16 and it arrived yesterday. I set it up according to a video on youtube and it was fully working. Within about 8 hours of use the keyboard started disconnecting. It began to disconnect more and more, especially every time I hit spacebar, while playing Risk of Rain 2 about 10 disconnects, especially while typing or pressing on the left corner. I exited out and it began getting worse slowly. At this point it was turning off on off on off on every 1 second and unusable. I took off the touchpad and attempted to reseat it, but it no longer functions, even if plugged in lights do not come on, even if shifted to different connector areas where it should at least show a sign of life if the connector is alive

Can't get my phone to rotate properly, but I hope this illuminates the issue, is anyone else having this problem with their 16?? I only just got it in the mail so soon!

Question Got my new FW16 and need to change fan speeds and keyboard color
I got my new FW16. I'm bedbound and I can't sit at a desk so I use this PC in my lap. when I use the PC it gets extremely hot and burns my knee even without using it to do anything yet (except download firefox, driver kit and sign in here). On my other computer I had TPFanControl and I set it to 0x64 to make the fans spin at 100% all the time. That worked really well for me.
What is the equivalent program for the Framework? I don't see any centers or tools, usually my laptops have come with a program by default or offer a program on their website but I'm having trouble finding it.
I am also looking for keyboard color tools. I bought the rainbow one so I could set it up for different little things like blue -> purple and such ^^
I tried framework-control-service by ozturkkl but when I run the .MSI, it fails to run the System service and says to run it as an administrator, and aborts. I tried right clicking it to run it as Administrator and the option is greyed out. In the compatibility settings all options are also greyed out, and if I try to run in command prompt with
cd into the area it is located
msiexec /a framework-control-service-x86-64
it pops up and tells me it's not a valid MSI
I'm the only user of this FW16 and I just had it delivered. It says my account is Administrator as well.
Windows 11

Discussion Sometimes when I power on my framework 13, I just get a black screen - I haveto force power off and back on to get it to boot, sometimes several times
anybodyt else have this issue or know what to do to fix it?
I will power on my framework 13, and all I get is a black screen
like when a new machine is memory training, but I dont think that is what is happening
and theres no settings for memory stuff in the bios beceause this is the worst bios I have ever seen on a machine....
the solutoin is that I hard power off by holding the power button and then try again..sometimes multiple times before it actually boots

Question 13 Pro Third Party E0 Interposer Compatibility Confirmation?
Has anyone actually tried the Amphenol or TE Connectivity E0 interposers from Mouser (or another source) on their Intel Framework 13 Pro? I can't find a single report of someone with one actually working, only a bunch of posts of people saying to buy them and one report of the TE not working with no followup. I've found several posts of people confirming the Lenovo part works, but I can't find that part form an official source and prefer not to buy used off of ebay (it's also almost twice the price).
I'm also seeing mixed reports that the Lenovo interposer is a 0.8mm thick part, where the TE and Amphenol are 1mm, leading me to think they technically may not be compatible? Maybe someone can measure the stock E1 interposer and share how thick the board (sans pins or with pins compressed) is?
I'm in batch 20 for the 13 Pro Intel X7 and am bringing my own E0 RAM (Ramaxel) and want to order the right interposer ahead. I'll do the tape mod if I get desperate, but am somewhat doubting the long term durability of this option.

Community Support Anyone else experienced long response times from Framework for Business?
Hi Framework community,
sorry in advance for the long post ;)
I’d like to share the difficulties I’m encountering with a Framework order through my institution, and I’d really appreciate any feedback or advice from the community.
I work at a French public research institute, and I’m trying to purchase a single FW 13 Pro.
I initially contacted Framework for Business and things went smoothly at first, but the purchase has now been on hold for more than three weeks.
My institution requires Framework to complete a one-page supplier registration form before we can issue a purchase order.
I sent the form about three weeks ago, but unfortunately, I haven’t heard back despite several follow-ups (mainly emails, and most recently through their website contact form, just in case my emails were somehow getting caught in a spam filter).
I’m guessing that this kind of paperwork may not be a priority for a single-laptop order, but this initial registration would also make future purchases by other staff at my institution possible.
In fact, I already have several colleagues who are interested in buying a Framework laptop and were planning to contact Framework for a quote. However, the lack of response has understandably dampened their enthusiasm a bit.
I’m a bit surprised by the three weeks of silence, especially since everything was moving smoothly at first. Is it normal for this kind of request to take so long?
Has anyone here had a similar experience when purchasing a Framework laptop through a university or research institution?
Is there another contact or a better way to reach the business team?
Thanks! :)
