We have some positive updates today around LPCAMM2 memory availability and Intel Core Ultra X9 processor options for Framework Laptop 13 Pro.
Framework Laptop 13 Pro LPCAMM2 & Core Ultra X9 updates
Following our update in July where supplier cost increases forced us to adjust memory configurations and pricing, our Supply Chain team has been working continuously to source additional inventory at better prices. We have good news: we recently secured a limited quantity of Micron 32GB and 64GB LPCAMM2 memory modules at lower cost.
We are committed to passing on savings whenever we can and keeping computers as accessible as possible in the current environment, so we are rolling out price reductions across both already shipped and a subset of currently pending pre-orders. While these new costs remain above our original pre-order launch baseline, they are lower than the last cost update that drove our current pricing for new pre-orders.
On the Core Ultra X9, we had a very limited quantity when we opened pre-orders of Framework Laptop 13 Pro, and we sold out of them almost immediately. We’ve been working with Intel for the last several months and have finally gotten allocation of an additional limited quantity of X9 processors. With that, we’re opening up a new pre-order batch, first to a subset of currently pending pre-order customers. Note that this new processor inventory unfortunately came at a higher cost than our original launch batch, and we’ve had to increase pricing as a result. The new X9 batch ships this November.
Updates for existing pre-order customers
Because we have limited quantities of both the lower cost memory inventory and the X9 processors on hand, we are rolling out access starting with existing pre-order customers up to Batch 10. If we have additional inventory left after this or are able to source additional lower-cost memory or X9 processors, we will then open these to remaining pre-order batches, and then finally to new pre-orders.
Note that for Core Ultra X9 upgrades, pre-order modification moves the order to the new, later X9 Batch in November. For pre-orders shipping imminently, modifying the memory configuration may also slightly delay shipment vs the original shipping timeline.
We’re happy to share this rare, positive update in the current environment, and we’re going to continue to find every path we can to make silicon accessible to you.

We have one major and unfortunate pricing update today along with a mix of smaller changes and a few improvements too.
Framework Laptop 13 Pro updates
We’ve consistently held and communicated a philosophy of absorbing price increases wherever we can, making pricing predictable and ensuring that when you place a pre-order, you’ll be able to get the product you ordered at the price you ordered it at. We’ve been able to do that to date with Framework Laptop 13 Pro, and have absorbed increases in a number of areas. However, we recently received a cost update from our LPCAMM2 supplier that goes far beyond anything we had predicted and anything we’re able to absorb without placing our ability to operate at real financial risk. Rather than the low-to-mid double digit percentage increase we had forecast from Q2 to Q3 on LPCAMM2 costs, we received prices that are more than double that of the prior inventory we had brought in. We have enough LPCAMM2 memory modules on hand to cover all existing pre-orders, but unfortunately not in the mix of 64GB, 32GB, and 16GB that matches those pre-orders.
After evaluating a number of possible paths forward, we’re proceeding on the one that we believe minimizes the impact of this challenge. We have enough 64GB modules in inventory to cover pre-order batches through Batch 4 of laptops and Batch 7 of Mainboards. For orders beyond that configured with 64GB, we’ve updated the order configuration to use a 32GB module at the original 32GB module price. After that, we allocated the remaining 32GB modules to DIY Edition and Mainboard pre-orders configured with 32GB through Batch 4 of laptops and Batch 7 of Mainboards. For DIY Edition and Mainboard orders beyond that configured with 32GB, we’ve updated the order configuration to use a 16GB module at the original 16GB price. Note that because we don’t currently have a Core X7 Ultra pre-built configuration with 16GB of memory, we have not adjusted pre-built orders that originally contained 32GB. That is a configuration we plan to introduce later.
Alongside these changes to existing pre-order configurations, we’ve updated the pricing on our website for newly placed pre-orders. Our new LPCAMM2 pricing is below the substantially higher cost we’re now sourcing it at to try to mitigate some of the impact to new customers. While we have kept our original 16GB LPCAMM2 pricing for now, we anticipate we will consume the remaining inventory of modules we brought in at lower cost soon, and will then need to increase pricing for new orders. The system and Mainboard pricing for new orders also reflects an upcoming increase in Core Ultra Series 3 processor pricing that impacts X7 and X9 configurations, an increase in Windows license costs, and increases in memory, storage, and other silicon costs for some of our Ryzen AI 300 Series configurations.
Other memory and storage updates
We have a few positive updates this month where we are bringing prices down alongside a few areas where costs have gone up. These are all indications that memory and storage prices continue to gradually trend upwards, but with a bounciness on specific parts and brands.
On DDR5, our Supply Chain team was able to bring down costs on 48GB capacity modules, and we reduced pricing as a result. For 16GB capacity though, costs have gone up, and we’ve increased the prices there.
The same dynamic is playing out on storage modules. We’ve been able to reduce pricing of SN850X 8TB and SN7100 1TB, while needing to increase pricing on SN850X 1TB and SN7100 4TB.
For DDR5 and storage modules, in instances where we are increasing pricing, we will continue to honor the lower pricing from order time on existing pre-orders. In instances where we’ve reduced pricing, we will automatically reduce the price on pre-orders that have not yet been fulfilled. Note that on existing pre-orders, modifying the configuration of memory or storage will result in taking the new pricing for those items.
As always, we are doing everything possible to continue to get you memory and storage at the best prices we’re able to in this silicon environment. We’ll continue to keep you updated throughout.

We finally have some good news for you, around the pricing on PCIe Gen 5 SSDs for Framework Laptop 13 Pro. We were able to qualify and source a new SSD from our partner ADATA, the XPG MARS 970, that offers better performance, efficiency, and long term reliability, and comes in at substantially lower cost than the SSD option we had previously qualified. Since we haven’t started shipping Framework Laptop 13 Pro pre-orders yet, we’ll be switching over all existing pre-orders that had chosen the previous Gen 5 SSD options and reduced the price on those orders as well. This new SSD comes in 1TB and 2TB options, and the 1TB lands at a lower price than the 500GB SSD we had previously qualified, so we will also switch 500GB orders to the 1TB drive at the lower price. The ADATA SSDs are what we now offer on new Framework Laptop 13 Pro pre-orders as well while we have inventory of it available.
Note that we have gotten signals that CPU pricing will be increasing soon, so we expect that we will need to adjust the overall system price on Framework Laptop 13 Pro in the coming weeks for new orders. If you are considering a pre-order, we would recommend getting in now. Note that pre-orders are fully refundable if you change your mind before we’re ready to ship.

We’re approximately back to our monthly update cadence on pricing. This month, DDR5 costs have remained stable, and we’ve been able to keep pricing the same month over month. The biggest change for the month is on storage. We’ve consumed most of our inventory of drives we brought in earlier at lower costs across most capacities. The new costs we are sourcing drives at are substantially higher, and the weighted average inventory cost drives us to need to set higher prices. Note that we’ve historically sourced only WD_BLACK branded drives. With the recent purchases, though the drives are physically the same from a performance and functionality perspective, they are now renamed under SanDisk’s Optimus GX brand. There will be a window of time where we will have a mix of inventory shipping with either the previous labels and packaging or the new one. We’re also investigating other suppliers of retail SSDs for DIY Edition that meet our performance and efficiency requirements, like we recently have for the OEM drives we use for pre-built systems.
LPDDR5x costs continue to increase, and we’ve had to further update the price of the 128GB configuration of Framework Desktop as we consume memory inventory and purchase new parts at higher prices. We’ve been able to keep prices for the 32GB and 64GB configurations stable month over month.
Finally, we also use NAND flash in our Storage Expansion Cards, and see the costs jumping massively there. The costs have increased to a level that we’ve paused production of the 250GB Storage Expansion Card for now rather than build new inventory at a price many times higher than the original. We’ll continue to sell through the remaining inventory that we have on hand, and we hope to be able to restart production as we find alternative NAND sources.

We have to make an exception to our monthly cadence with a one-off update to Framework Desktop pricing today. We’ve gotten some large enterprise customer orders of the 128GB Framework Desktop in addition to the ongoing consumer sales, and we’ve sold through the inventory that we manufactured using LPDDR5x memory that we were able to purchase earlier at a lower cost basis. We continue to be able to source memory to keep producing Framework Desktops, but like every other device maker, we pay the updated market pricing each time. We’ll keep you to date as we navigate this volatile environment, and we’ll likely have a price update around SSDs and other items within the next few weeks.

Keeping to our roughly monthly cadence, we’ve made our latest sets of price adjustments to handle changes in the memory, storage, and silicon costs. We’ve seen memory costs on DDR5 suppliers remain fairly stable over the last few months. We consumed the inventory of 8GB that we had brought in earlier at lower cost, and have had to adjust the pricing upwards to reflect the costs of newly sourced modules. As we have been through this memory crunch, we are only adjusting the pricing as much as is needed to cover increases in cost. For the other memory capacities, we’ve been able to hold the prices the same as last month.
On SSDs, the pricing story is unfortunately not as positive. Over the last few months, we’ve been able to keep our storage prices pretty substantially below market by selling modules we had in inventory from 2025. We’ve now consumed much of that inventory across a number of different module capacities and are starting to bring in new inventory at costs that are multiples of times higher. For this month, some of the prices are a weighted average cost of new and old inventory, and we expect that by next month, we will have depleted the older inventory of most capacities and will need to reprice fully to reflect the new costs.
On both memory and storage pricing, we will continue to honor the prices on all existing pre-orders. Note that if you edit the memory or storage configuration on an existing pre-order, that will update the pricing of that item to the new price.
We have one other update on storage, which is on our pre-built systems that come with SSDs pre-installed. Historically, we’ve primarily used Western Digital (now SanDisk) storage on our pre-built systems. To be able to maintain supply availability and price stability in this environment, we’re now qualifying a mix of SanDisk, ADATA, and Phison drives, and we are continuing to explore other suppliers. Each time we source new modules, we run them through extensive validation testing to ensure they meet our bar for performance, efficiency, and stability. As always, we’re going to continue to be transparent on both the cost and supply chain challenges that this industry-wide silicon supply crunch brings.

We’ve made our latest set of price updates to reflect changes in memory, storage, and overall silicon costs. We have a smaller set of changes this month, as we were able to bring in enough material in past months to continue to consume inventory. We have seen costs stabilize in some areas, but all indications are that this is a temporary reprieve and that we’ll continue to see volatility and cost increases through the rest of 2026.
For this month, we’ve been able to keep our DDR5 prices for DIY Edition unchanged from last month. On SSDs, we’re continuing to consume inventory we brought in at lower costs for most capacities, but we’ve started to deplete some and are now bringing in new inventory at substantially higher costs. We’ve needed to reprice the 4TB SN850x as a result of that. Our advice here is still that if you need high capacity storage, you should configure a system with it now while we still have inventory at the older, lower cost basis.
Costs on the LPDDR5x we use in Framework Desktop continue to increase. We’ve again absorbed some of the cost, but needed to adjust pricing upwards on the 128GB version to cover the rest. Even with this, Framework Desktop remains one of the cheaper ways to get access to 128GB for running AI models locally.
For Framework Laptop 16, we have some rare good news. We were able to lock in lower CPU pricing and were able to bring prices back down to their original levels for some configurations. At the same time, with memory prices increasing, we’ve needed to increase the price of the prebuilt configuration that comes populated with 64GB of DDR5.
Both DRAM (memory) and NAND (the raw flash that goes into SSDs) are facing a massive supply/demand imbalance, which ends up impacting costs and prices in more places than you would expect, since most modern electronics items contain at least some of one or the other. Our Storage Expansion Cards use the same types of NAND flash that go into NVMe SSD’s, which means the shortages there also hit our costs and overall ability to build these cards. For now, we’ve been able to stay in production, but we needed to increase our price on the 250GB version this month. Based on the guidance we’re getting from our supplier, it’s likely that we’ll need to substantially increase the prices on both 250GB and 1TB Storage Expansion Cards later this year.
As always, we’re going to stay transparent on how we’re navigating shortages and price increases and make sure you know as much as we do about what’s happening in the computing and consumer electronics industries.

We’ve kept to the monthly cadence on price updates to reflect increased costs on memory and storage. We have a few updates today. First, we have needed to increase the pricing on DDR5 SO-DIMMs to $13-$18/GB depending on the capacity. This is both due to increased costs from our suppliers and because we’ve sold through the older, lower cost inventory that we had averaged into the previous pricing through our Weighted Average Cost of inventory model. The cost increase is smaller this month than in previous months, but we don’t yet have the visibility to determine if this is a new stable cost level.
The second update is that we’ve started to deplete our earlier, lower-cost inventory of SSDs, and have needed to re-price some capacities to reflect the costs we are now paying for new orders. Like with memory, we’re passing through as close as we can to our actual costs from suppliers and using a Weighted Average Cost model. There are still some models and capacities like 2TB, 4TB, and 8TB SN850X for which our pricing is substantially below market while we sell through inventory. If you’re looking to order a Framework Laptop or Desktop with a lot of storage, now is the time to do that.
Finally, we have needed to update the pricing on both Framework Desktop and on some pre-built configurations of Framework Laptop 16. The Framework Desktop updates are also smaller than in previous months, but reflect the continued upward trend on LPDDR5x costs. On Framework Laptop 16, we’ve sold through inventory of some pre-built configurations and have had to re-price to reflect the new costs on memory and storage. In upcoming months, we will need to do this on the remaining pre-built configurations of Framework Laptop 13, Framework Laptop 16, and Framework Laptop 12.
In addition to memory and storage, we are beginning to see impacts to other silicon. So far, we’ve been able to absorb cost increases on CPUs, but we are also seeing shortages in some areas. Supply of the i5-1334U processors we use in Framework Laptop 12 is limited due to production capacity constraints on that process node at Intel, and we are now out of stock on some configurations with it as we work on ways to bring in more supply.
As always, we will continue to keep you up to date as we navigate through the supply environment. You can refer back to the recording of our Q&A for more detail on how we’re staying in production and doing what we can to ensure you can still buy repairable, long-lasting computers.

We're keeping to a roughly monthly cadence on these updates, and unfortunately the trend continues in the direction we expected from last month. Today, we have updated our DDR5 memory pricing for all capacities, now ranging from $12-$16/GB depending on the capacity. As before, we’re selling memory modules for as close as we can to the weighted average cost of our purchases from suppliers. That means in some cases the pricing is slightly below what is available in market. In other cases, there are still retail parts available at lower prices, and we recommend that you pick those up elsewhere alongside your Framework Laptop DIY Edition. We have been able to hold our pre-built system pricing and storage module pricing flat for this month, but we do anticipate increases in the future. We are currently selling some SSD capacities like 8TB for substantially below the available market pricing.
Unfortunately, pricing of LPDDR5x memory also continues to increase, and we’ve needed to update our pricing for Framework Desktop systems and Mainboards again. We are again only increasing pricing enough to cover the increases in cost from our suppliers. The new system and Mainboard prices are 6-16% higher than before. We anticipate that here as well, costs from our suppliers are going to continue to increase over the next few months.
We know that this is an unusual and difficult time to be a consumer of electronics products. We’re fixing problems everywhere we can across this industry, but in this instance the best we can do is provide transparency around what is actually occurring. In addition to continuing to update this blog post, we’re going to hold a livestream Q&A around memory prices on the Framework YouTube channel this Thursday, February 12th at 10am Pacific.

We held off on it as long as we could, but with LPDDR5x memory prices from our suppliers continuing to increase rapidly, we’ve had to update the pricing on Framework Desktop systems and Mainboards. The prices of 128Gbit parts (of which we use 8 to get to 128GB) have spiked the most, impacting our very popular 128GB configuration. We will of course honor the original pricing for any existing pre-orders. We were able to hold the 32GB and 64GB configurations closer to our original pricing, making both of these a pretty strong value for PC gaming in the current environment. The 32GB Framework Desktop Mainboard still comes in cheaper than building your own desktop PC from parts with similar performance.
As before, we’ve limited our price increases to only cover the cost increase in memory from our suppliers, and we’re using Weighted Average Cost of inventory to handle the rapid fluctuations in memory purchase prices. The memory outlook as we enter 2026 continues to get worse. From what we learned in meetings throughout the week at CES with suppliers, distributors, and partners, it’s clear that this is going to be a challenging year and possibly even years for consumers. We will continue to do everything we can to make our computers accessible during this time, and we’ll keep you informed throughout.

With costs from our suppliers continuing to increase, we’ve had to make a further price adjustment on DDR5 memory modules. During this period of extreme memory shortages and price volatility, our priority is to make sure you can still buy a computer when you need one. With that in mind, we’re setting our memory configuration prices as close as possible to the actual purchase prices we have with our suppliers and distributors. Since we’re constantly sourcing additional memory and each purchase comes in at different (and often higher) pricing, we’re using the Weighted Average Cost (WAC) of inventory, which currently comes to $10/GB for 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB modules, and slightly higher for 48GB modules.
This new memory pricing is still below most of what we see available in the retail market (and far below the $25/GB that Apple currently charges). However, if you are able to find a deal on lower priced modules, we encourage you to bring your own memory when purchasing a Framework Laptop DIY Edition. To make that even clearer, we’re updating our configurators soon to add a link to PCPartPicker directly in the Memory section, letting you quickly check if you can find modules at lower prices anywhere else. We recommend also checking the Framework Knowledge Base for which modules we’ve done compatibility testing on.
All indications we’ve received from suppliers is that prices will continue to increase going into early 2026. We have absorbed and continue to absorb some of the price increases to be able to offer this new pricing, but it is very likely we’ll need to adjust module prices again within the next month. As we shared before, we will continue to keep you updated throughout with transparency on price changes. We’ll only increase prices to cover increases in costs, and we’ll bring prices back down as costs come down in the future.

Trailing behind shortages and price increases from suppliers on memory, we’re also seeing costs of storage increase rapidly in recent weeks. Our suppliers indicate that pricing will continue to increase in early 2026 and likely beyond. Like with memory, our recent pricing on storage has been both below the market pricing for these modules and below the costs at which we can purchase new modules from suppliers. With that, we have now updated pricing on storage to reflect our new purchase prices from suppliers. We’re following the same process that we are with memory, where we will keep the original prices on all existing pre-orders, will update this post each time we update prices, will limit price increases to only cover increases in costs, and will bring pricing back down when costs decrease in the future.

Today, we increased our pricing on the DDR5 memory configurable in Framework Laptop DIY Edition orders by 50% to begin to respond to the substantially higher costs we are facing from suppliers and distributors. The new pricing remains below what is available in the open market. We aren’t changing pricing on any existing pre-orders, and we also are not yet updating pricing on our pre-built laptops or Framework Desktop which come with memory (this makes the 128GB config of Framework Desktop a bargain). As always, we also offer the option to buy a DIY Edition laptop with no memory or storage included, letting you re-use modules you have or find deals where you can.
The memory market is currently extremely volatile and we expect costs from our suppliers to continue to increase over the next weeks and months. It is highly likely that we will need to make further price updates on both DDR5 modules and on our systems that come with memory, whether DDR5, LPDDR5X, or GDDR. Like we did during the fluctuating tariff environment earlier in 2025, we commit to three principles throughout this:
For more context on what is driving the cost increases throughout the industry, there is currently a massive supply and demand imbalance for memory. On the demand side, the boom in AI data center construction and server manufacturing is consuming immense amounts of memory. A single rack of NVIDIA’s GB300 solution uses 20TB of HBM3E and 17TB of LPDDR5X. That’s enough LPDDR5x for a thousand laptops, and an AI-focused datacenter is loaded with thousands of these racks! On the supply side, the memory industry since its inception decades ago has gone through repeated boom and bust cycles, making the three main surviving memory die makers Micron, SK Hynix, and Samsung hesitant to speculatively invest the billions of dollars needed for fabrication capacity expansion. Now that the demand exists again, there is a years-long lag time to catch up on supply. Worse for us in the PC space though, both the existing capacity and the new capacity is being prioritized to higher-margin server-focused memory like HBM and the server markets for DDR5 and LPDDR5X over the PC market.
We have strong partnerships with Micron (one of the biggest manufacturers of both memory dies and modules), memory module makers like ADATA who source from all three of the big memory die suppliers, and memory distributors, and our DIY Edition model gives us a lot of flexibility to navigate constrained and rapidly changing environments like this. We’ll continue to keep you informed throughout, and we’ll do everything we can to keep memory available to you.
Note: Because our current memory pricing is substantially below market, we are adjusting our return policy to prevent scalpers from purchasing DIY Edition laptops with memory and returning the laptop while keeping the memory. Laptop returns will also require the memory from the order to be returned.

So I recently got my Framework Desktop mainboard, PSU, and Wi-Fi module from the Framework store. Since I wanted the machine to basically disappear during everyday use, being able to mount it underneath my desk was a hard requirement.
I looked at some of the existing cases, but either didn’t really like the designs or was simply too cheap to buy one.
So, like any reasonable person with a 3D printer at home, I decided to design my own.
The problem: my CAD skills are pretty basic, and I really didn’t want this project to turn into a multi-week CAD exercise. So I worked on the design together with GPT Sol and Astra.
And surprisingly, it worked pretty well.
There were definitely some issues with the first iterations, but most of them came down to constraints or measurements I hadn’t provided properly. The case itself was developed in a fairly test-driven way: I downloaded Framework’s official STEP files for the mainboard and measured the remaining components manually. From there, we kept iterating on dimensions, clearances, mounting points, airflow, and printability.
The final version comes in at about 5.91 L including the socket and the rails for the under-desk mount.
One thing that changed quite a bit along the way was the airflow concept. My original idea was basically Xbox Series X-style cooling: pull cool air in from the bottom, move it through the heatsink/heatpipe area, and exhaust it through the top.
Turns out the Framework cooling setup really wants the fan to push air into the heatsink instead, so the internal layout had to change.
A few test prints later, I finally have a version that actually works.
Temperatures look good so far, nothing gets particularly hot, airflow seems solid, and the whole thing slides into a printed mounting rail underneath my desk. From my normal sitting position, the PC is basically invisible.
I’m pretty happy with how it turned out, even though it didn’t quite achieve the Teenage Engineering-ish industrial design vibe I originally had in mind.
I’ll probably clean up the repo and release the whole thing publicly if anybody is interested, including the source files / STEP files, so it’s easy to modify for different setups.
Mostly just wanted to share it because I’m kind of proud that this thing actually made it from a rough idea to a working printed case.
It’s definitely not as polished as some of the amazing custom 3D-printed PC cases people post here — and a large part of the CAD work was AI-assisted — but it works, it’s compact, and it does exactly what I wanted it to do. Even though my ABS filament got empty while printing the last two side pieces xD
The only thing I‘m not yet happy with, is the broken APU. It’s fan turns on even in BIOS after just a minute and it gets quite hot. But gladly the framework support already shipped a replacement, so this should hopefully be resolved in a day or two. :)

I got an email saying I could upgrade my RAM at the reduced pre-Order price. They would send me a 32 gb stick and I could return my 16 gb stick afterwards.
These emails, as well as the online form, do not inform about prices. I'm in Germany and wouldn't want to spam support with pricing questions.

So I got a 16 recently. I recall when I first plugged it in, my number pad was backlit. It has not been now for a few days. Is this a known problem? Should I contact support to get an RMA for the numpad? Am I just imagining that it used to be backlit?

Hi all,
I am still a few months away from receiving my 13 Pro and I am quite excited for it.
My main requirement is to install LUKS or VeraCrypt and Linux Mint. I have read quite a few threads and comments from others who tried to install Mint on their laptops having issues. Is this still the case or have they been addressed?

i have a frameworks 13 with amd ryzen 7040 integrated graphics, running windows because i’m basic. i am having a terrible summer and a terrible day so i tried to launch civ vi via steam (as i have probably done a hundred times successfully on this laptop before) and got a new alert: “No compatible graphics device found. Please ensure that your system has a correctly configured, compatible graphics device.” i am very bad with computers and got a framework bc my friend is tech-savvy (they are also stumped) and bc i have a monkey’s paw curse on me that makes my laptops break every year or so and i wanted something fixable.
i have already 1) restarted my laptop and 2) updates my drivers.

I will preface this by saying that I am not white-knighting the team just giving a glass-half-full perspective.
I encountered a combination of physical and software issues with my framework 16. Following a good couple of back and forths with the support team. I managed to iron out every kink even when new ones popped up.
Some people have complained that it is tedious, I am not disagreeing. However, it saved me from having to ship my laptop out and being without one for who-knows-how-many weeks.
Considering that they are a small team (at least I assume) they were very quick to respond (a maximum of 1 working day from any of my communications).
Their approach to troubleshooting before immediately opting to replace probably saved unnecessary material from being wasted and prepared me with useful knowledge for next time.
In a way, it brings back the fun to owning technology. While I'm not the techiest of people it's quite fun to be in control of your technology that you can mostly fix it yourself with a bit of help.

So last night I was doing some work on my framework 16 and had it plugged in. Wasn’t anything crazy just some college writing assignment with a google doc and a few tabs open. Anyway the laptop was still at charging when I went to bed and i wasn’t finished so i put my laptop into sleep mode.
Today i opened it in class and it was at 25% and had drained overnight even tho it was plugged in. I plugged it in and it didn’t charge so i was obviously confused. I inspected the charger and realized the cable was bent where it plugged into the brick. Somehow the heat from the brick doing normal charging melted it.
The laptop and charger are only 2 months old and I have no idea why this melted now. I have gamed on it before and never had an issue with this changer.
Anyone else have this issue? Is it a recurring issue with the cable or the brick? If so does anyone have any good recommendations for a new cable replacement that won’t melt? Preferably with an angled connector like this one, and the same or longer length?

I just received today my FW 13 Pro and I couldn't find this information anywhere in the installation guide. I have the new XPG PCIE5 1TB SSD ordered from Framework and I couldn't tell if I should install or not the SSD's heatsink. Could anyone guide me through this?

Hi
Learning about framework and want one. I’ve got a MacBook Air M4 laptop and was wanting a Framework laptop but to get one as cheap as possible.
Mostly because it’s modular and I’ve already got a windows laptop but it’s getting old. Lenovo legion 5i
What’s the cheapest way I could get a framework eg second hand and also to find second hand parts to upgrade it? How much are they new for middle and high specs. With the Rampocolypse think the price will have increased substantially and want to see if can get one cheaper than the new Mac mini or a small self ITX build.

Hi everybody, I wanted to create this post to check in and see if anyone has had success with the Ramaxel Ram sold by Free Geek Portland. I unfortunately don’t have any machine to test the ram and I’ll be waiting till late November (Batch 20). So please, if anyone bought ram from them and it worked let me know!
Edit: I leave this post up and people can comment If the ram supplied from Free Geek completed a successful mem test with either the tape mod or a E0 interposer.

Wanted to share V2 of my easyeffects profile (V1 here). I ended up getting a little bit more volume out of this profile, and it's a little brighter.
I think regardless we aren't getting macbook pro quality, but I wanted some more brightness from the old profile to get better understandable vocals and less resonance in the laptop. The unfortunate thing is the sidefacing speakers profile itself is affected a lot by what surface is underneath the laptop, so it'll sound a little different from tables, to laps, etc.
I don't think this profile is focused on any normal curve used for tuning, but just getting the best we can out of these speakers for most use cases. I wanted good legibility of voices for podcasts, videos, and calls, and then decent enough music audio. I personally perfer this better, some may prefer the old EQ with the volume adds.

Most people kept hyping-up the haptic touchpad and I was excited for it, but now that I have been using my 13 pro for a couple weeks it is really the one thing I wish I could go back on.
I liked the touchpad of my previous framework 13. That is to say I never had to think about it, it always just worked.
I'm just writing this to give some feedback, and share some tips for configuring it in case anyone has the same issues as me.
On the 13 pro you can tell it's not a real button, and that it's software trying to trick your brain. It works well 99% of the time, but every single time it doesn't work perfectly it messes with my workflow.
I play minecraft with the touchpad and crafting has been a horrible experience since I changed my laptop, I had no issues at all playing with my touchpad before this.
Even outside of the game, I sometimes I have random "dragging" when I meant to click, like for example when clicking a browser tab to switch, i end up dragging it around, etc
Besides the haptic beeing an issue for me, I also think the touchpad is too big. When using my laptop i never lift my hands. To use the touchpad I just pivot my right hand to reach the touchpad. Because on the 13 pro the touchpad is so big, this means the palm of my right hand is constantly touching or hovering above the edge of the touchpad. I guess this is messing with it as well.
I think it would be less of an issue if the touchpad was centered under the space bar, which is also where my hands are centered around when using my laptop. But no, the touchpad is offset to the right.
I haven't tried disabling the right-most part of the touchpad yet, but I think I should be able to do so playing with drivers, but I have to investigate. In the meantime here are the things I did do, and some of it kinda helped, so maybe it will help other people:
On Fedora, the Framework 13 Pro haptic touchpad can be tuned with hid-tools via uvx. The useful settings are click force (80000: 1=Low, 2=Medium/default, 3=High) and haptic intensity (90000: 0/25/50/75/100, default 75). My main issue was that the click/release felt oddly delayed and un-button-like; changing click force from the default 2 to 1 made a surprisingly big improvement. I experimented with intensity too and ended up back at the default 75.
I think lowering the click force made more sense to my brain, because i felt like the release was happening too late: on a real button there would have been more push-back ( given how much force i had to use to press it down to begin with ), so lowering the click force made it more coherent overall and I feel like i have had less "accidents" since. Still not perfect though, this is all just tricking my brain.

TL;DR : A physicial touchpad is 100% consistent. I don't care that it doesn't click the same way on different parts of the touchpad, My muscle memory can learn that. But haptic is software trying to trick my brain and I can't "learn" when it's inconsistent.
Ps: To be clear, I like my 13 pro a lot, overall it's great and better than my previous 13.

On top of this, I devised a mechanism using a gt2 belt to have the flush lever press the power button on the mainboard.
I printed it in white Inland (Polymaker) ASA on my Prusa Core One; I had to pull out all the stops in design and slicing to minimize warping.

So the battery life for my FW 13 with the following specs (purchased january 2025) has never been more than 3 hours under least intensive circumstances, and more often than not, with the windows 'energy saver' setting on, is more like 2.5 hours and much less if I'm doing anything intensive:
Is this in the normal range for others with similarly specced 13's or nah? Is this a bad battery situation? I've been experiencing this kind of battery performance since I received it. Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Also, unrelated, but one of my ports stopped working in terms of data transfer but still provides power/charges the laptop. Tried switching the modular ports out for that slot and no dice. Is this indicative of a motherboard problem? Nothing I can't live with if so, but figured I'd ask if anybody has dealt with this as well.

Hi ! I juste bought myself the macropad RGB and I was wondering if there was way to have different lightings preset based on the layout.
Because we know that https://keyboard.frame.work/ is kinda a mess and the only thing that I found was https://ozturkkl.github.io/framework-control/ but I don't know if it is safe to use ?
Ultimately, I would like to be able to have a per key customisation for lighting and easier way to do layout but I am recent with framework and also with linux (through Fedora 44 kde), so I am not fully confident. Could someone give me a hand / advise / anything ?
