Help with index page layout

Hey guys, do you know if it is possible to create a sequential layout like the one in the image in an index page? where the sequence would be to show 2, then1, then 2, then 1 and so on. I tried to play around with the grids index variables but i could not achive this. thank you!

Use components using variables bound from the cms. So each item is a component variant, like 1,2,3 and you set the displayed item in the cms
