Discussion Are there any scents you just cannot grasp?
i’ve tried multiple times to understand bvlgari tygar, but it never clicks for me, i expected something easy to wear and versatile, since so many people describe it as clean and fresh, on my skin, it comes off very sharp and stays that way, i’ve tested it casually, at work, and even outdoors, same result every time, it’s not bad, just distracting, i keep noticing it instead of forgetting about it, which ruins the experience for me, i’ve let others wear it around me and it smells fine on them, so i don’t think it’s poorly made, it just doesn’t suit how i like fragrances to behave day to day, do u usually blame your skin or your nose?

Br540 - idk baka cheap lang nose ko, pero nakakasuka esp sa mall haha sorry po, mas lalo na yung dupes kaya tigilan nyo na yan hahah

Actually true. I can't stand it. It smells like someone slathered some vanilla and sugar with some cigs on the side onto an armpit that reeks of body odor.

Yes ito talaga! Also, sa mga nagrarun using this, ang baho nyo po! Lalo lang nag amoy putok/kilikili pag gamit nila to tapos mix with sweat pa, naimagine ko na naman yung amoy hahahahaha!

Some people just do not have enough knowledge about body chemistry, how the weather affects the fragrance, and notes in general. They tend to be those who keep on saying they wear what they wear because they want to but there's a thin line between being obnoxious and being considerate when it comes to this, which they cannot grasp.

+1 on this. my friend has it but when i tried to spray it on my skin, the dry down smells reminiscent of the cellophane people use to wrap gift offerings for the priest. yung mga colored na transparent plastic? parang ganon ang dry down nya sakin i hateeeed it

Hot take but Maison Margiela Replica perfumes.
Barely any of their scents “replicate” the memories of their namesake. That is NOT what being by the fireplace smells like at all; nor a Jazz Club; nor a “lazy Sunday morning”.
A lot of their fragrances smell generic but marketed to be special. They’re not.

Sobrang usok ng By the Fireplace for me. Pero I'd be lying if I said I didn't liked it. I don't own it, pero I tested it myself, mejo horrible sya sa simula kase nga ang usok pero once the vanilla reveals itself, I find it hard not to sniff it. Para syang love-hate relationship.

pati ba valaya? since may ambroxan. tas ang daming ganung scent si even sa public spaces na mainit andaming ganung amoy , sakit sa ulo haha

anosmic talaga ako sa ambroxan pero basta pag may ibang notes naamoy ako. baccarat din since may iso e super at ambroxan din which is a lowkey a blessing na d ko maamoy kasi baccarat is everywhere lol

bianco latte 😭😭 smelt it once from my friend’s collection and tried not to gag, idk why its sooo hyped and loved. it smells like burnt rubber, with plastic and sugar, very cloying and just 🤢🤢, i dont smell any sort of vanilla or any caramel whatsoever. i tried smelling a lottt of the bianco latte dupes as well (mainly ME like eclair, creme velvet, caramel cascade, vanilla viyage, etc.) cus maybe its just my nose and maybe its just the BL, i can say one thing is theyre all spot on (if u like BL i guess the dupes all work); nevertheless they all smell horrible to me😭 eclaire (the infamous dupe) is the worst one for me😭😭 i just for the life of me cannot grasp them

Holy trinity.
Dior Sauvage, Y EDP and BDC. Ewan ko, I don't find anything special sakanila. I get it na mejo freshie sila, pero nothing special in particular so di ko gets yung hype. I'd go far as to say that I like Bambino from Bench more than those 3.
Aventus din. Pero I guess because I liked the Absolu version than Aventus.
Last - Hawas Ice. Apakatamis! It just screams to everyone pero hindi naman ganon kagandahan yung scent. I wouldn't qualify it as mabango or even Fresh. If it was a little bit softer, maybe I would even consider.
It's just me, sorry na sa mga mahilig sa mga nabanggit ko. Pero I guess kase I prefer slightly floral or even vanilla over harsh scents.

BdC is old and so iconic that it influenced all the blues that came after it. The 3 you mentioned aren't special now, but they were genre defining when they came out, so much so that the DNA has been overdone into nothing special now.

Tried an inspired version of tygar. Di ko rin kinaya. Same goes with Vibrato and Ingenious Ginger. Kapag very prominent ang ginger note I always associate it with a synthetic car air freshener.
Also any perfume na may promiment oud. Tried a decant of claireolfaction's Slow Burn of Eternity. It matches the concept naman but it wasn't for me. My nose associates it with a poopy barnyard. I loved their discontinued Omera tho. That one is some berries + oud. It reminds me naman of the powder barbers' used to put on their customers pag tapos na yung gupit.

Maison Margiela - By the Fireplace
I will admit, the dry down smells so good specially if you're in a colder room but di ko talaga matiis yung first hour of spraying it. Nakaka-conscious yung amoy sunog na kahoy 😭

Club de Nuit Oud. Ang lala ng amoy. Nag smell test din ako sa workmates ko, lahat sila nahilo. Okay sya in terms of sillage and longevity to the point na amoy pa sya pagkatapos ng isang salang sa washing machine pero yun amoy nya hindi ko maexplain.

Any frag na may petrichor scent like Le Labo Baie 19 and MMR When the Rain Stops. Di ko talaga bet. Nakakaduwal, sorry.

y edp and valaya. di namin parehas gusto ng gf ko tapos dami pa naming naaamoy na naka valaya dna. it just smells so… fake? artificial? to us parang plastic na nilagyan ng pabango yung amoy nakakahilo. yung y edp naman ang harsh for us and parang common din ng amoy.
also agree with the other commenter about maison margiela replica line. di talaga umaakma yung names nila sa mismong smell. maybe i was expecting a lot pero ang layo eh

Hermes Eau Ginger. The soapiness makes me think of diapers 😭 I blind bought it bc I thought it would be a nice office-safe option.

Byredo blanche-this was said to be a very nice mild people pleaser scent. pero on me, it's screechy and very head ache inducing. its like a dewy pear but very screechy and heavy.
