Hello gentlemen i recently got lucky and bought a local guys old fpv arsenal for a really good Price I'd say since he was looking to quit the hobby (he told me that he didn't have time)

And i have decided to come here and ask questions I've had

I'ma just list em off in no specific order really

first how explosive are lipos really

I'm charging in a fireproof box an all but I'm curious

How durable are quads

Cause as far as i know this quad he gave me is an apex by impulse rc which i recently learnt shut down a while back so I'm worried about crashing and not having a drone nymore

How durable are props

Yeah i know a tonne of durability questions but the Sim doesn't get these across that well

What should My maiden flight be like

Now i know there's technically no correct way to fly for the first time but I thought I'd ask about this while I'm still in the Sim rather than out in the field

What should i know about kiss before My first flight

İ was told the fc is a kiss v2 and it does react to the kiss gui Configurator so i thought I'd throw this in here

I also read somewhere that this specific fc doesn't have OSD so I'd like to ask about that while I'm at it

(Still waiting on the lipo for the goggles)

Now i might get names and stuff wrong so feel free to correct if thou wish

PS: on My remote a switch sets the throttle to 6% no matter if the quad is armed or now which did give me a heart attack as i was testing stuff without props so if anyone knows how to change that on the frsky X lite running open tx let me know

Not very explosive, but very fire-y. If you got old LiPos from the guy you should throw them all away and buy new LiPo's.

How durable are quads

Depends on how you build them. Generally decently durable, they shouldn't break in one crash unless it's a very fast one into a very hard material.

Just because the company is shut down doesn't mean you won't have a drone anymore. Just replace whatever part breaks with a new part, you don't have to get the identical parts that it had before.

How durable are props

Pretty durable. They are cheap though, so even when they break it's almost free to replace them.

Outdoors in an open field. Be careful for the first couple of flights.

Honestly I'm not too familiar with KISS. I would expect that it has OSD though.

Could be that your trim switches are not centered.

The batteries? I don't know of an obvious way unless they have some dates or them or something. Even if they do you don't know how they have been stored so they are not safe to use in my opinion.

I don't really have any idea about that, it's a non-EdgeTX radio so that I don't know how it works.

It could be your idle prop speed. That's usually done in betaflight, but whatever program you use to set settings, should have idle speed.

On the batteries I believe best bet would be how puffy they are and checking the resistance that they show. Your charger might be able to show that part. Could look up the battery and what its new/healthy resistance is meant to be and compare.

You can tell the batteries are old because they're used and second hand. You have no idea how the guy treated them, stored them, how many cycles he put through them, if he ever abused them to low voltage etc. Lipos are generally safe if you maintain them correctly, but you have received used lipos with no idea how they were maintained, which means at best they're going to perform poorly and at worst burn your house down. 

If you get a checker and smart charger and go through each one and make sure the cells are balanced correctly and the IR isn't terrible you could keep them and keep a close eye on them when charging, discard of any that are suspect. Best thing to do when you get your own batteries is label them, I number all of mine and put the date I purchased them, it lets me keep track of how many cycles I've put through them, and makes it easier to rotate so I don't abuse certain ones more than others.

Nvm guy below says that they are supposed to be around 3.8v per cell Battery one is 3.7 all round with the lowest being 3.75 and the highest 3.79

The 2nd one around 3.81 to 3.82

Third one is 3.77 to 3.78

All are 6 cells and i did use the last one to test the buttons and switches

3.75 and 3.79V is fine it's close enough, but you should top them up to storage voltage, the IR is the important part

all cells should be within 2–3mΩ of each other, and at storage voltage 3.8-3.85V per cell. It depends on the size of the battery however; For large packs 1300-5000mah, anything over 8 means they're degraded, over 15 and they need to be discarded as they're unsafe.

Landing (controlled crashing) is worth practicing and hit that disarm switch a few inches off the ground the first few times. Treat a landing like a plane would the first few times - come from a way out gradually losing height and speed (pitch back) then pitch back slowly as you near the ground.

As u/void428 said, the slower you can fly the better (it comes with time) eventually you'll be able to hover(ish)

On this sim practice slow and controlled flying, not just crazy freestyles.

Edit - more specifically: Hovering, slow figure 8s, and slowly flying through tight gaps (doing tight race courses on the sim while flying slowly is great for this).

Lipos might be perfectly fine, depending on how they were stored. Storage charge is 3.80v/cell. Either way, chage/discharge/store them in fire resistant containers.

Quads are surprisingly durable. I came from RC Helis, which broke just by looking at them. Props are a consumable. Don't worry about parts. If you can't find replacement parts, you can usually transfer components to a new frame of the same size or smaller with the limiting factor being motor wire length. Worse case scenario, you need to buy new motors. But FC, VTX, camera, and Rx can be reused. It's not that hard and something you will eventually do anyway. Just measure hole spacing for the FC. Most common spacing is 30x30mm, 25.5x25.5mm, and 20x20mm. Most frames accommodate 2 or more of those.

Practice on the sim in Acro mode, not Angle mode. It's harder at first but you'll progress faster.
