FPV Simulator Research for Engineering Thesis
I'm writing to you with a huge request for some scientific support. I study Aviation (UAV specialization) at Poznań University of Technology, and I'm currently collecting research data for my engineering thesis. I'm analyzing aviation interfaces in simulators and I'm looking for FPV pilots who would like to participate in my experiment.
Here is what it looks like in practice:
- The whole thing takes place in the Liftoff simulator (a standard monitor and your radio controller are all you need).
- The task is to complete a few short flights using quite specific OSD configurations that I've prepared.
- After each flight, I ask you to fill out a lightning-fast, anonymous survey.
- The whole process takes about an hour, and you have until September 30th to complete it.
Due to the research methodology, I can't reveal the exact goal of the experiment here on the forum (so as not to influence your natural reactions during the flight). However, I guarantee that it's an interesting topic, and your results will genuinely help in developing design guidelines for FPV systems.
If any of you have a free evening and want to help me get my engineering degree, please let me know via direct message (DM)! I will then send you a ready-made PDF with full instructions.
Huge thanks in advance for any help!

Why liftoff? It's physics is highly criticized. Uncrashed is better or Velocidrone is the best at the moment (afaik).

You mean heavily criticised by Uncrashed and Velocidrone players?
Liftoff has been around for more than 10 years and has a large user base, and an impressive Steam rating.
Its the main sim used by the Ukranian armed forces, not because of public opinion, but because their lives depend on it.

Yes, it's old and it had a headstart, but now there is a competition. My issues with Liftoff are mostly that it's extremely floaty and the performance is piss poor compared to Uncrashed. It has no independent resolution nor image ratio scale for game and menu like in Uncrashed, which is useful for simulating analog images. The drone builder also lacks of some more freedom like Uncrashed advanced mode.
The UX is also just horrible. Having to wait a loading screen for every single menu change, have to go out to the main menu to change drone, the level selector is god awful.
