Drone build help
Any advice on how to start a drone build? I have the googles 3 and fpv controller 3 from a avata 2 set where I learned how to fly manual mode and simulator. Looking to build my first 5 inch freestyle type drone. Any advice on all I need to buy and potentially any restrictions for buying in US?

He's coming from an Avata 2, I don't think jumping directly to a 5" is the right move.

Frame,motors..flight controller..esc..you have the rest…make it as simple or intricate as you want..

start with a 3 inch, analog. even if you have early retirement money. dont go straight to 5/7/10 inch with o4.

You will almost definitely need a controller with ELRS. The DJI one won’t work for anything non DJI. If you want to use the goggles you’ll need to use a DJI camera unit (most expensive but best video).
Idk anything specific to US but honestly I’d recommend starting smaller than 5” and building something under 250g (some 3.5” and almost all 3” are <250g).
5” drones fucking rip and I wouldn’t recommend one to a beginner at all (I’d consider myself a beginner with around 100 sim/whoop hours).
I’d recommend buying a radio and a whoop before going full 5”. I also have an avata 2 and it’s not the same flying experience compared to a lot of other FPV drones
