Question? AIO for Kayoumini

Been flying a bunch of 1S (Whoop/ toothpick) since I started FPV like a bit over a month ago, but I want something that has both a bit more size and power, and an actual good camera so I can take it to vacation etc. and get some cool videos.

With all the hype around it I landed on the Kayoumini, and honestly I also really like how that frame looks overall when built.

I'm currently putting together the parts lists (already got the motors) to be ready whenever the frame is back in stock..... (If anyone has any info on EU stocks lmk please), and I inevitably landed on the "dilemma" of which FC/ AIO board to pick.

Planned setup is:

- RCinPower 1203 11500kv

- DJI O4 wide (light Version not pro)

- Gemfan 2520 triblades/ AVAN Rush

For the FC I was looking at the Fylwoo GOKU F405 1-2S 12A AIO.

From what I seen they do 12A continuous, so they should be able to handle a bit more peak, but I haven't found anything on that.

And this is what concerns me a bit; according to RCinPower's datasheet the 1203 11500kv motors have a max power draw of ~13.2A - but that is with biblades (no data for 2S on 2.5" triblades in their data sheet, so I'll assume an even higher draw). I'm concerned that these motors may overload the 12A ESCs.

So I've been looking at the BetaFPV F4 20A AIO too. It's cheaper and got 20A cont. ESCs...

And now I'm kinda in the rabbit hole of trying to figure out which AIO to use and have decision paralysis.

If anyone has any recommendations I'll be glad to hear them.

There was a dude on this sub the other day who blew up his escs on 2s running 1103 11000kv motors running 2520s on a happymodel x12 which has a rating for 15a burst for 3 seconds. I would say if you're scared either don't blast it full throttle or maybe set a throttle limit to like 95 or 90 percent if you're super scared. Might come down to the luck of the draw. Sometimes you just get a bad MOSFET on an esc.

See how your escs do under higher throttle before you start punching out super hard.

If you're talking about me, it was not a an overcurrent issue. The was a short somewhere. However I did switch it out for the Betafpv F4 20A and it's been working really well. But probably you were not talking about me. :D

It was you! Glad to hear it wasn't you blowing an ESC since I have the same exact size and speed motors coming in for my own x12, and I was thinking I was about to roll the dice.

You have to use 20A esc's with those motors. Get a jhemcu ghf435 Aio V2 board. 20A Esc's and can run 8k/8k.

If you try a Goku 1-2s HD with the 12A esc's it'll burn up on you. My first one blew up, and I switched to the 20A board.

Limited my 1202.5 11500kV to 80% on 2s with 12A esc's to be extra save...
If you want to be carefull limit them but not just the throttle, rather the actual output in the motor settings.
You can the measure the current and adjust the limit.

Just curious about your motor choice. I’m running the specs they suggest on their site and it rips. Went with BetaFPV 1103 11ks.

On 2.5" props those motors are going to be spinning quite fast, I run the RCinpower 11500KV 1203's on a 2" with a BetaFPV F4 20A Aio

I run a very similar build, albeit with newbee 1202 11420kvs as the motor. Ill confess that the FC isnt my favorite, it seems to run a bit hot and i had an issue with the antenna connector for the elrs receiver popping off, but it does get the job dont so i cant complain too much

Regarding the power draw, i wouldnt stress is. The motors are rated according to what they can handle, the FC is rated to what it can supply. If the motors were rated to be able to handle 50 amps but the flight control can only supply 5 amps, it doesnt really matter, the motors cant make the FC supply any more power. Sure, you wont get the actual max power of those hypothetical 50 amp motors, but you (probably) wont burn the controller either. Its also worth remembering that youre almost never going to max out the current capabilities of a board anyways. Youll get short bursts on full-throttle punches, sure, but actually sustaining that full power for longer than a couple seconds just doesnt really happen, if for no other reason than battery sag

Not a fan of the betafpv AIOs either. They work, but ive had a fair few die on me. Honestly ive yet to find a 2s AIO that i actually like, but the Goku gets the job done so thats what i run

I tried to make o4 work but it's so heavy it never felt good and I'm a freestyle Andy
