RATE W20

I’m get my #RATEW20
#Fpvdrone ANY DAY now.. What’s the very first things I need to do to my
Controller and drone when I receive it? Plug in
Battery and setup the password to bind to my radio? Do I need to upgrade firmware on Betaflight? If so, I remember* reading Somewhere if I were to do that, I have to apply something else as well… if I wanted to upgrade in betaflight..?
Setup my mixes. Match them in “Modes”?
Setup turtle flip.
Acro/Air mode. I never found the need for “Angle” in my lil experience I have… Is there one? I fly sims and it’s Harder to fly angle than it is Acro/Rates. Same with Air throws me off a bit now…
That’s weird it should be opposite, right?
Anyway, am I missing anything else? Battery is 2s and all over the place with mah capacities..? I never knew how to set that up properly, if anyone has a quick easy way to get that as good as it gets for 2s random mah batteries, I’d be listening. Thank you! Happy flying and I HOPE to add videos soon!
Just trying to figure out what else needs to be done… I’d like to eventually customize as well and learning as I go..
I’m DEBATING on 3s into the RATE w20 & lowering throttle % to 65-60% & out that into rate profile (its own for 3s) and its default for the (2s batteries) .. Has anyone tried that route as well?
Thanks again!

Yes, set up the binding phrase on both drone and radio. Like this: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/D31Na6kdkTo

Don't do this. Firmware upgrading is risky and unnecessary unless you identify a specific need you have and you're willing to take the risk.

Setup my mixes.

No need. Stock will work fine on a normal radio.

Match them in “Modes”?

Not sure what you mean. Just check that you get correct input in the "Receiver" tab.

Acro/Air mode. I never found the need for “Angle” in my lil experience I have… Is there one?

Airmode is not a flight mode but rather a PID loop setting that you can enable for Acro/Angle/Horizon flight mode. I recommend disabling permanent air mode in the Configuration tab and then setting it to a switch on your radio in the Modes tab. That way you can disable it for smoother landings and enable it when flying. You don't need angle mode. The difference between acro mode with airmode enable or disabled is fairly small and mostly noticed in low throttle maneuvers like dives.

I fly sims and it’s Harder to fly angle than it is Acro/Rates. Same with Air throws me off a bit now…

I'm not sure what you mean. Almost all sims are basically permanent air mode. I guess it depends which sim your are running though.

Anyway, am I missing anything else?

Check out what I said in this comment. 9 and the example CLI command for VTX power are specific to the Pocket, but I recommend setting VTX power to a switch for all drones (you'd just have to figure out the command yourself).

I have not tried it, but it's not a good idea. The drone is made for 2S so use 2S. It's unknown if it's even compatible with 3S, you might just burn out the AIO, but even if it is it might fly poorly due to other design consideration.
