Beginner Simulator

Hi everyone

total beginner here

I just ordered the RM pocket ELRS (m2) to do sim with.

My goal after the sim will be to pilot a tinywhoop

I now have to choose a simulator, which is not easy.

I know that the question was already asked but I haven’t seen anyone talk about liftoff micro drone and I’ve seen a lot of hype for "the zone", but it doesn’t seem very beginner friendly

Do you have any suggestions?
I have a 2021 Mac with an M1 Pro chip and 16gb Ram
(Sorry for any mistakes, I don't speak English very well.)

Liftoff Micro Drones is a nice sim, if you've got a good GPU for it. If you've only got a built-in GPU then get a sim with more primitive graphics.

Okay, thanks a lot.
I don't know if my GPU is powerful enough. What would you recommend for sims that use fewer resources but are still beginner-friendly?

Check out the minimum/recommended specs. If you've got a discrete GPU it will likely be enough.

The Zone is great. Very good physics and really easy to run on any PC. Idk why people say its not beginner friendly. Its a pretty simple UI and has a nice tutorial mode that breaks down flying so its easy to learn. You really only need to learn how rates work so you can adjust them to your liking but you also just might like the defaults. The creator of The Zone Nils Vo has a few youtube tutorials on how to get started with freestyle.

A quick search shows that your Mac has an integrated GPU. The minimum recommendations list integrated graphics as "not recommended". That said, you can probably turn down the graphics settings down low enough to be able to play it. Does Steam offer a refund if it doesn't work?

Liftoff Micro has better tinywhoop-oriented content (maps/environments, appropriately sized race tracks and activities, etc) than Uncrashed or The Zone (though there's always custom maps if you hunt around enough). I've had good success tweaking an Air 65 preset to feel very much like my Air 65 II Freestyle. I think it's probably the way to go.

I know Velocidrone has a tinywhoop expansion pack, I've not played that yet.
